I tip my hat to monkey and martin2412. Much funnier suggestions than mine.

Given that Mt. Rushmore is for leaders, I've gone for 4 former Palace leaders, albeit only 'in my time':

Ian Evans
Jim Cannon
Geoff Thomas
Luka Milivojevic

Almost made it: Mile Jedinak

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Are we allowed a "5th Beatle"? I would add Dick Graham. He got us out of the old 3rd division from where we went on an upward trajectory from which we have rarely looked back ( apart from those three seasons in Div 3 in the 70s)

You started the ball rolling though mate

Actually you make a good point about ‘leaders’ I never thought about that and much as we all loved King Kenny he wasn’t a leader, maybe I could swap him for GT who is a good shout

Interesting thread.

Mine are based on promotion to the top flight.

Bert Head(1969)
Terry Venables(1979)
Steve Coppell(1989)
Ian Holloway(2013)

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I know some will say mal got us relegated twice, but he was a force of nature and put us on the footballing map laying the foundations for what was to come in the mid to late 70’s. He was also responsible for the changes to the club we know today, the red n blue, the nickname and badge

King Kenny, simply the best player to pull on the shirt

Jim Cannon, absolute warrior and a one club legend

Sir Steve of Coppell, absolute genius crafting a top three and cup final team from lower and non league signings, this will never be repeated again at any club anywhere with all the money in the game now

Superb answer which largely mirrors my own thoughts, although I'd swap Big Mal with Venables (building on Big Mal's work, he assembled the "Team Of The Eighties", got us up to Div 1 and we had a great start albeit tailed off to 13th).

If I’m allowed a 5th beatle as pete53 put it, I think I’d go for Venables as well, I know it was soured a bit when he left and his second spell was poor on and off the pitch, but for what he gave us in that few years in the 70’s he definitely left a major mark on the club, years ahead of his time as a coach

Nice one, although a little before my time. However, one of my all-time favourite football-on-TV memories remains Colchester, managed by DG, beating Leeds United in the 5th round of the FA Cup in 1971. Check it out on YouTube.

Arthur Wait
Steve Parish
Steve Coppell
Bert Head

Wait and Head got us to Division 1 for the first time ever, Coppell gave us great times and elevated the Club and Parish has overseen a minor miracle.
