Been watching the MOTD BBC classic matches on I-player and plenty of appearances from our very own Wayne Hennessy. A mixed bag of performances to be fair to him. I think you'll find he's made his name already, given his meteoric rise from Championship to the full England squad and based on the evidence of all the newspaper articles that have been written about him and on the transfer speculation that surrounds him. Whether Southgate picks him for the England side, however, remains to be seen.

To get the best from the talent at his disposal, GS must change his game plan and tactics. I can’t see him doing so. Edited by Eaglehamster (12 Jun 2024 6.27am)
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Southgate makes bold calls and tends to get it right, it's just his game management comes up short against top coaches. I don't feel confident, Foden and Saka are very skillful but still young and top defences could shut them out, our defence is suspect and we don't have a settled plan for midfield, I'd prefer Bellingham to play deeper and a flair player at number 10 - that won't happen, I'm hoping Trent plays alongside Rice in midfield - Rice, Gallagher and Bellingham is too stodgy for me. I can see Serbia giving us a scare and a 1-1 draw.

Not losing is usually the mantra of the first game - which could prove risky if Serbia decide to just go for it. It's a hard game. England should up the tempo in my opinion.
