Yet another example (Brexit, Trump, Red Wall etc) of the silent majority gaining their voice through a ballot. Definitely not interested activists voting more on average than the average person then. I'm skeptical of these things because I think both juries and public votes can be manipulated.....I stopped watching once it became obvious that there was an anti British bias regardless of how good the song was. Anyway surely there's a poll somewhere that shows public opinion on the latest set of wars between the sand peoples. Not that any of what happens in the Eurovision really matters....group of narcissistic freaks.

When referencing Eurovision's strange collection of weirdos and freaks. When it comes on I'm always reminded of the song and Irish act who should be the winners of Eurovision for the remaining decade. [Tweet Link]

I'm watching the Arab version of Eurovision. There's an enlightened entry from Qatar "You're not gay if you're not a taker", then there's Iran's entry "Keep your women in order or we will", and the Saudi entry "The Crown Prince is Correct". But clearly the Palestinians entry will take some beating. It's on a break for prayers currently, but back on BBC1 for the next three days in around a quarter of an hour. Restarts with a list of necessary Fatwas. Great stuff.

That and the stoning of an unfaithful wife or two. Apparently Gary Lineker is the UK presenter for the Bradford entry. Bradford, Afghanistan and pakistan are the guest entries - along with ISIS in Syria. The Chechen entry was widely denounced as there was a woman showing too much beard. Caused quite a stir, along with Iraq's "We're still Sunni" to the tune of "I'm still standing". The Elton John cameo was perhaps ill-judged at best.

Our entry was sleazy and tasteless. I'm glad it did badly. Eurovision is camp but tries to be fun. It has been hijacked by gays to a large extent, like much of entertainment, but overly sexual performances and virtue signalling are not appealing to the majority of all demographics. In the end, it is not a real competition. It is clearly fixed. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (13 May 2024 11.34am)

It was difficult to tell when the New Dr Who ended and Eurovision began. As for diversity I feel the white hetrosexual middle aged man was under represented.
