It is a fraction say of the legal costs the govt paid to see a Tory minister try to prosecute a university student for wearing a headscarf. It's all deflection tactics and smoke and mirror like most of politics these days Firstly, the police are investigating electoral fraud primarily, declaring the wrong address. Secondly, you think that if the amount is smaller then just let it slide, nice moral compass.

That is not what I said I pointed out that the low amounts mean that HMRC would not usually even look at it, it is simply not cost effective to go through what is a legal enquiry process, and if say they did spend say £10k to recover £3.5k a lot of people who chunter on about a waste of public money. Ok you can get on your high horse about principles but principles in politics on all sides are in short supply!

I hope she gives thanks every day to Margaret Thatcher for giving her the opportunity to buy her council house.

So someone who is potentially the Deputy Prime Minister after the next election should not be investigated for possible criminality. If no criminal offence committed but she had lied to the public is that OK? She should follow her own advice and resign if the subject of a police investigation.
