Glasner seems to want players to move the ball quicker with more one and two-touch football and more through-balls, which possibly doesn't play to Ayew's strengths which are dribbling and holding the ball up. We also seem to be looking to get the ball to JPM quicker. I also agree that he's probably a bit tired after a long season. Good player to come on to hold a lead then.

Just a suggestion guys, Ramadan? Ayew's poor performances coincide with this, it maybe a coincidence but it maybe that due to the drinking and eating restrictions it has impacted his level of energy. Anyway Ramadan will be over before our next game so maybe judge him over the next couple of matches.
Humans naturally would only eat once per day at the most 2 times which was rare. Modern day has made up about 3-5 meals BS and it's mostly because of the carb loading. The issue is the system it's not using his strengths the manager so far is looking like one that people need to fit into his system not using players strengths which is something I remember other managers using and didn't turn out too well.

Ayew has the highest assist rate amongst his front line colleagues. It is curious why he flashed a wild shot against the bar when a simple ball across the box would have led to an almost certain tap-in goal for Eze. There's no excuse for that sort of thing. Edited by southnorwoodhill (09 Apr 2024 11.01am) I remember when he did score a great goal in a recent match he was asked why he didn't celebrate and he simply said he was too exhausted... I think AFCON , plus the many injuries in a small squad, plus age, plus the more intensive training under Glasner means he has to play, even when he really needs a rest.

But then in your eyes Mateta's a League 1 player.

I thought Schlupp looked pretty good when replacing Ayew and playing in that same position. Made the goal for Edouard. As Ayew seems to be struggling I would start Schlupp on the left behind Matteta and if Olise is fit start him on the right in place of Eza. That would then make the bench stronger for changes as and when necessary. Just need Richard’s or Guehi back to put Hughes on the bench with Lerma back in midfield. Then perhaps we might pick up those needed points to stay up?

Yup and it must be difficult for an elite sportsman during Ramadan as they cannot consume water or food until after sunset.

One thing he gives us as a team is energy usually, but he does look like he’s struggling. Obviously the African cup hasn’t helped, let’s hope he gets a second wind before the seasons over

It's our fault for lack of wide cover. He has to play every match. Even if Olise were fit, he'd play on the other side. Obviously doesn't suit Eze. The other option is Schlupp. Not replacing Zaha was the issue. One more wide player and our issues would be far less. I've noticed Townsend's done alright even. Even someone like him and we'd be miles better off.

Were his best performances all season.
