This is from Kieran Maguire football finance expert . . .

Selling some of the quality players to fund more but cheaper new recruits has presumably always been part of the plan. A fire sale caused by relegation probably hasn’t.

That’s what it’s come to I’m afraid, it’s called a relegation battle

It’s amazing though, that no matter how poor we’ve been this season, all our problems, injuries, conceding late goals, not defending set pieces, our usual lack of goals, not scoring from corners…..we’re still where we are with a bit of a cushion from the drop zone. It just shows how bad some of the teams are down there. Obviously points deductions could help us as well if Luton do go on a bit of a run, but we’re still pretty lucky to be where we are.

Cushion accumulated pre Doucoure's injury.

He's that important.

Unfortunately that is the reality of this season. We are paying the price for a succession of transfer windows where we haven't done enough business allied with a number of injuries to our better players. As we are under financial restrictions I suspect we will need to sell end of season for a proper recruitment summer. On the plus the new manager may be able to pick up some decent signings based on his knowledge within the game. Priority though is now to get the required points this season to ease any worries.

We are going to have to sell some of our better players. Olise, GuéhiJohstone, , or Eze who is a class player despite not getting rave reviews atm. PS Whatever happened to our money bags John Textor?

In trouble with the Brazilian Authorities & at Lyon, now he's made himself President.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Sure look we have to get relegated some season. Why not this season?

Post world cup it's been miserable being a palace fan. At least we will be out out of our misery and can then enjoy some football again.

I don't think Everton and Brentford are good games for Luton.

They will still be scrapping for points.

West Ham isn't a good game for them either (or us) as they are trying to secure a European spot.

Fulham on the other hand like Bournemouth) have nothing to play for.

Thats what Charlton fans thought, they are now enjoying football in the bottom half of League One.

Watching Spurs v Forest, they are giving it a go (Forest) currently 1-1

However, they are no better than us and having officially cheated lucky to have only got 4 points deducted.

Also why is nobody mentioning Brentford? They are below us having played a game more yet they are never mentioned in any posts about relegation, it’s always us and Luton… did I miss something? There are 5 teams worrying about the 3rd spot.

We are currently sitting 7th from bottom.

Burnley and Sheffield are all but gone,

Everton are no great team and face more points deductions
Forest giving it a good go but still below us.
Luton full of heart and a great manager but still need to do a lot to overcome us.
Brentford, hot and cold and by no means safe.
Palace. Our nerve shredding and infuriating at times team.

Assuming we get nothing from Liverpool (just being realistic) you would then look that we have enough to get over the line. Especially if (please if there is a god let it be) Olise stays fit and brings the best out of Eze.

More importantly with Olise able to start after the Liverpool game we will have Ayew on the bench which is a decent option compared to what we’ve had and maybe Guehi coming back in 2 weeks too.

It’s not great but it’s not all doom either…yet

It seems the Luton-equalizer in the dying seconds might be the mistake that sends us down?

I honestly believe that Luton will win their three homes games.
Put that into the equation and we need 5 more points minimum.
