Ahead of signing, a lot of the character reports on Glasner was that he wasn't afraid of speaking his mind, and wasn't one to just toe the line.

I've got no doubt that he will be pushing DF and SP to sign the right players and cut the dross.

As soon as we are safe - let's hope that is soon - work will begin.
Some players need to leave for sure but I doubt our jewels will go immediately other than Olise if he is fit.
His buyout clause being triggered will see him gone sadly but £80m or so will help us invest in the future.
Dougie needs to stay and unearth a few more nuggets of joy and we will start to have a brighter future!

Olise seems so injury prone that I’d take the money for him now. Rather have good players that are fit than great ones who aren’t

I think we could be pretty decent next season with only a couple in. It depends on who we sell. Wharton and Munoz have helped although Franca, Holding and Henderson haven't. I guess left back, left wing, possibly striker. I reckon Edouard will go abroad or Scotland. I think we'll have to stick with the midfield we have more or less. Doucoure will be back and it will be hard to justify investment in that area. I guess the position none of us think of is centre back but Andersen, Guehi and Richards will need back up and I don't reckon Holding is it. Nor does anyone else. And certainly just forget about Ferguson. Again: O'Brien would have been handy.

Definite will be a squad overhaul this summer, with fringe and key players going who will need to be replaced, along with plugging the existing gaps in our squad.

Of the expiring contracts I'd probably retain Hughes and Ward, both as back up, but let Schlupp, Riedewald, Clyne, Ferguson and Tomkins go.

Olise will go and it's probably the best time to sell Guehi. I'd capitalise on Mateta increasing his value if we get an offer, if we can't shift Eduoard.

Honestly we might end up needing a left back, centre back, right back, left winger, right winger and striker.

If we do sell Guehi and Olise, it will be vital that we get replacements early too, before other clubs hold us over a barrel knowing that we have money and are desperate.

This will all be a lot harder if Freedman buggers off again.

Ideally we let these lot go:

Schlupp, Riedewald, Clyne, Ferguson and Tomkins

Sell:
Anderson
Edouard
Olise - if the offer is big.

and then bring in a mixture of youth and experience to fill in the gaps

Both Andersen and Guehi will have 2 years left on their contracts this summer, so that is the ideal time to sell and maximise the fee.
Hopefully only 1 of the 2 will go. Notice Botman has a long term injury at Newcastle and they have previously expressed an interest in Andersen, so that could have legs.
Edouard is rumoured to be on c£90k a week so can't see anyone matching that wage, especially a Scottish club, even if we offered him on a free, which we won't.

He wouldn't of been if he wasn't mismanaged by Hodgson.

Certainly not a Scottish club. There are reportedly four players on over £30,000 a week in the SPL. Connor Goldson is the highest earner on £37,000.

It has been mentioned before but the team that finishes 20th in the PL will earn more income than the entire Scottish TV deal. The mismatch is enormous.

Growing up Celtic and Rangers would compete for players with the best teams in the old Division one. Today Celtic and Rangers fish in the same pond and as the Championship and frequently lose out on wages.

It's why they want to join the PL.

In the list of the highest paid players in Scotland you have to go down to no. 45 to get to one who isn't at Rangers or Celtic - Jordan James at Kilmarnock who's on £8,100.

That is English League 1 money.

Depends who you ask. I have had chats with fans both side of the Glasgow thing and all passionately argued against joining the EPL.

The arguments all seemed a bit parochial to me but they mainly valued independence over commerce.
