I think it will take a bit more time than we’d all like to get us playing the style of football Glasner is renowned for. At the moment it is all a bit “hoof ballie” at times but as some have commented- it is very early days. It’s clear we’ll need an overhaul and I hope the out of contract player will be replaced with some physically athletic and younger players. The focus needs to be on bringing in some pace - not just up front! Isn’t it nice to be anticipating some exciting times ahead - I’ve got a feeling next season will be a good un …….COYP!

I'm surprised there's not more discussion on our new shape. When Glasner came in, I was doubtful we had the players for 3/4/3 and also had concerns that it would suit Eze - who is our best player. I remain to be convinced. With four at the back we also can have an extra attacking player up front. Mitchell doesn't seem to have the attributes for that WB role - but worse it seems that Eze is seeing a lot less of the ball now he's no longer in the midfield. I guess with Olise out - we need a bit of his magic up front but when he comes back I reckon we will miss what he did best - linking play to our attack. Wharton will develop and could become our midfield playmaker but I still feel we're lacking something right now. Lets not talk about the 3 central defenders going missing for Forest's goal...

I share similar doubts and agree about the system not suiting Mitchell or Eze. Originally posted by Aray

Players like Riedewald, Ozoh and even Hughes maybe surplus to requirements and we definitely need pace on the left. Edited by Badger11 (31 Mar 2024 12.09pm)

Secondly, Eze was our top goal scorer last season and along with Olise, Edouard and Mateta joint top scorer in the league this season. He needs to be playing further forward especially with Wharton developing as the midfield creator. Finally, I don't see Glasner changing the shape to accommodate Eze. Glasner makes it quite clear that it's all about the team and not individual players and I suspect that if a player can't adapt to his system, he'll get rid of him. However, I believe that given time Eze will adjust well to his new role, especially when Olise comes back in place of Ayew (who might be asked to take up MItchell's position). Just my opinion, of course, but time will tell.

He always takes a while to get back to full speed after an injury but had an assist yesterday, scored against Spurs and would have done again yesterday if not for a top=class save by their goalie. I'd agree that he would benefit from a better attacking wing-back. I can't fault Mitchell for effort but he just doesn't have the speed or dribbling skills to get to the byline and pull the ball back for Mateta or Eze.

For me I am liking a great deal the way we are shaping up under OG. At last we are beginning to press and defend much higher, this will take time to adapt but high hopes we will no longer let teams come onto us. Adam Wharton is IMO a superb signing who can and will with more experience find that killer pass we have been lacking. Munoz, likewise IMO is another asset. Long to see us at full strength with a lot of talent missing as we all know COYP

I may be in the minority here on this but honestly I think Mitchell will come good - he is young athletic & has shown that he is keen to do whatever he is asked, sometimes his execution has been a bit wayward & he has suffered when other teams overloaded him where we were playing a narrow back 4 under Roy but I think he will improve under Glasner.

He is going to need a lot of coaching. He doesn't like going forward or having the ball. As soon as he is given it he just wants to play it backwards. This has to change. He needs to study Munez. He needs to take risk going forwards. I agree that he has the body, just not convinced he has it in him, he seems a nervous type.
