I think we are seeing the green shoots of what Glasner wants to implement. I think for him to be successful will require a turnover of players in the summer. While Mitchell and Eze have been singled out as having problems in Glasners system, my thoughts are that it takes some players longer than others to adjust. And I think that's very much the case with Mitchell. Although he's never been the type to take players on. As for Eze, he's not up to speed yet following his recent injury. It seems to take him a while to get into his rhythm so I'll reserve judgement on him at this time.

Agreed, we need to replace Mitchell with a PVA type player, hopefully Eze can get used to his new position but if he can't any suggestions who would fit? The trouble with that is that PVA was better going forward but was a mediocre defender, to put it mildly: well inferior to Tyrick, imo. The number of times I can remember shouting at him to close the winger down before he crosses, which on many, many occasions he didn't. PVA better attacking, TM better at defending, is my take on it.

Mitchell looks decidedly uncomfortable when he receives the ball in the final third. Originally posted by NEILLO

As I posted, he's not comfortable taking his opponent on which is a shame as he does get himself into good positions. It's never been his style and I don't think he can change. But it is early days for him under Glasner so I've given him the benefit of the doubt ! The squad will need a refresh to get the best out of Glasners tactics.

Basically, its work in progress, there maybe more improvement after 3 weeks training. Next season will be the test.

Mitchell looks decidedly uncomfortable when he receives the ball in the final third. This is strange one because Mitchell was a winger before. It could be he is one of those players who can only play one role either defend or attack and doesn't have the brain to read the game. I find he is not that quick either. ANother issue is he looks like he has hit his limit fitness wise it happens not everyone can increase (every game if you watch him around 60-65m on wards he struggles) 100% need a left back even if it's for cover it's another area which should have been addressed a long time ago.
WHat does Ahamada even offer? He has been given time of the bench and he does nothing. Ozoh would have been my choice over him.

that is a very good OP. can i add, that watching the Arsenal v Brentford game i was struck by what a pack of thugs Brentford are. Maybe we could take a leaf from their book. showing good discipline with the gobby mouth, and being an utter savage in the tackles. Are we too nice for our own good ? Sergio Ramos/Roy Keane......thugs. Gary Linekar/David Beckham......too gentle for their own good. Atletico Madrid.....11 thugs and a great tally of results from a relatively modest financial outlay. Edited by PalazioVecchio (10 Mar 2024 9.46am) Yes, we are too nice. Roy was too nice. I’ve said before, we need a couple of bruisers in our team like a Cahill and Murray type. There was a piece recently on corner kicks, it’s amazing how many teams bend the rules. It was suggested is it clever play or cheating. Now, is it any coincidence that we haven’t scored from any. Our honesty comes back to bite us.

The football is much better. More chances they just need to be converted. Set piece work seems better as well. I like the new formation. Although we conceded in the dying seconds we didn't sit back and defend the one goal lead. The results will come and I suspect someone well get a thrashing before the end of the season.

I think the thing to decide before the end of the season is if you think Glasner is longterm, if they think so there would be at least 3/4 decent players for his 3-4-2.1, which he isnt going to alter from, which would mean letting 2/3 of our better players go to get the money for him, and if it fails you are left with a set of players for that style and formation, i think you see how he gets on for this season, a positive start in my opinion, if we had kept the ball in Lutons third we would have won and everybody would be happy.

Agree with a lot of this, but surely Glasner is not that one dimensional. He seems really contemporary to me.

I think you are right, Jairo, Clyne, Tomkins, Schlupp and for me Hughes, i think Olise will go, an one or both CDs, that should give him 4/5 decent players, i am sure Glasner has some ideas who he wants.
