My son is 13. A lot of his friends seem to have an affection for Palace for no parental of familial reason. I would guess that some of that is our status as a PL club and the fact they'll get to the odd game whereas maybe in the championship they (and their parents) wouldn't bother. Are they fans? I don't know. But everyone starts somewhere.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I remember talking to a guy who went to school in New Addington back in the early 70s - he said the best supported club from there was Chelsea (the Osgood and Hudson years), second was Charlton (slum clearance) and third was Palace. Young blokes from Streatham tend to be more Palace these days than back then I've noticed, and if you go down the A21 you gets lot of Palace emigres, plenty of us in happy Hastings.

About 15 years ago, cannot remember which game, but I got on the train at New X Gate with my Palace top on. I started speaking to an old boy in a red and blue scarf who remarked on my coming from a 'Millwall area' and he asked why I supported Palace, to which I said 'my old man', of course. He said 'he helped you see the light did he' and I responded that 'it was more of a dim glow'. I think our longer term PL status has brought a few out of the woodwork in many areas etc and may have attracted a few more youth too. The same way our ground is frequently sold out now but a few years in the Championship and there'll soon only be 16k of us watching a game against Rotherham on a wintery Tuesday night! All good however, a growing family. COYP
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I've always thought it would be nice if we were a team that was popular amongst certain demographics - such as rich, single Scandinavian women, that would be pretty nice.

Especially if they have inclinations toward ex-pat SE Londoners... that would be nice.

Bromley , Hayes and West Wickham always seemed to have good Palace support, Orpington too but as you move towards Downham it becomes Millwall... Perverts need a way to signal to each other in public.

I sometimes make it to the Football Factory, where the NY Eagles congregate. Most of the people there are from England, but there are typically a few people that for (sometimes odd) reasons are Palace supporters. They're usually quite passionate and I wouldn't see them leaving if we were relegated (although below the Championship would be hard, as I don't think we'd see televised matches).
