The most interesting thing I found in the Rochdale result was the fact that Reform came last. They were beaten even by a candidate who wasn’t even standing!

Now that’s interesting!

Not really. I don't think you can read anything from this by election it's a one off. Voters fed up with the government some using it as a referendum on Gaza, labour not fielding a candidate etc.

I fully expect at the GE that Rochdale will go back to it's normal voting patterns.

As for reform they are a minority party I don't expect them to be a threat at the GE apart from as a protest vote by disgruntled Tories like me.

So the Palestine Flag won the election. I guess that all the literature that was printed wasn't worth it. Doubtful there are that many who can read.

Rochdale is not a potential seat for Reform and the candidate was a poor selection albeit not as bad as Labour's

Some of them actually live there and a few were allowed to cast their own votes.

The 60% is skewed by the 20% who voted for Mr Tully.

Only 30% of the vote went to Labour and Conservative.

I am pleased to see the duopoly of the two main parties being challenged.

Seems the election Act 2022 changed the supplementary vote system but not sure how, can anyone explain?

Seems to have changed to first past the post.

Last election was 55/45 to Labour

The actual votes were @ 1,000,000 Labour and 900,000 Conservative so it would only need 50,000 reduction in Labour vote to put them neck and neck.

Also seems Galloway is on the list as a candidate so has time to change the candidate.

Tower Hamlets gave Khan 40K votes last time

Galloway is an anti British scumbag, so it is no real surprise that the good people of Rochdale voted him in.

But it's not interesting that there isn't even a majority of English people in an English town.

Galloway like Corbyn is a clever and experienced protestor. He rang rings around congress when they asked him to appear.

The real question is how good an MP is he? Will he do his best for the people of Rochdale and try and help them with their local day to day problems? Or is he more interested in preening himself in the House of Commons?

We will see.

Apparently after postal votes were being encouraged by the Muslim "community" they increased by 14,000 in last election to over 27,000 in latter stages of this bi-election which massivly swung the vote!!

Very dodgy and the way of postal voting should be looked into. In my opinion it should be for people who genuinly can't get out of their house to vote.

I am hoping if they stood a candidate they would eat into Khan's base enough to oust Khan.

Galloway is a remarkable politician and would be a significant campaigning asset to a candidate even if he threw his support behind an independent.

He has been consistent in his views which is rare these days. I agree with him on some issues, Iraq War, Brexit to name two.

I was kidding.

However I agree with Badger. He'll be out at the GE. The main parties were in disarray this time but will get their act together. And this vote was a one off protest on Gaza.
