Roy apparently wants yet another role, one more challenge, before he retires.
Seems to qualify on age grounds to run for the President of United States, who are looking for alternative and younger candidates than Biden and Trump.

Personally - I just wish Roy a well deserved happy and long retirement..!!

He will always be “one of our own” and a Palace Manager legend IMO alongside Venables and Coppell..!!

I feel sorry for the way it came about - but the time was right - he’d run his race and in the end time caught up with him..!!

Thanks for everything Roy - now just go and enjoy your time in your Portugal villa..!!

Roy has huge experience but I am not sure how he can help as a consultant?

He has shown very little interest in young players and the academy which is an area that many clubs would like to improve on. Helping out with the first team? Perhaps if the manager is happy with that but I doubt they would want that interference.

He could certainly run the rule over potential transfer targets for a club.

He sure would thrive as a set piece coach failure. 😆

I expect his missus will talk him out of any further employment. He can probably do after dinner speeches.

I said a couple of months ago I'd have no issue with him moving upstairs in some capacity.

However, on balance that might undermine the current manager and prove too tempting for Parish to put him in charge again if we start struggling under Glasner.

I fear that, despite his enormous experience, his overriding footballing philosophy is at odds with what most ambitious clubs are trying to do now. He might be a hugely valuable resource for a newly promoted club with an inexperienced manager trying to establish themselves in the division.

Whatever he does, wish him the best and would be great if he could come to one of our final games of the season after we're safe to say goodbye and get an ovation.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Roy convalescing after last week's timely illness, just ahead of being sacked, believes he has more to give football...

"I feel I have enough left in me to suck the life out of just one more club before I retire", said the nice Mr Hodgson as he woke from his afternoon nap ahead of visiting time.

Or maybe more!

I’m pleased he’s gone, while acknowledging that he did have some good spells at the club .
I think we’ll see a marked improvement in his absence.
In terms of his taking another role this could prove problematic.
He’s always been very much a hands on coach out on the training field every day.
I just don’t see him as a consultant in some vague role cooked up to keep him in employment.

Agree with all of that.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I actually enjoyed 12 minutes of injury time yesterday, 3-0 up. With Hodgson I would have been counting down the seconds 1-0 up, with no out ball with 3 defensive players replacing the front 3.

Don't expect to get anything from the game at Spurs, but actually now looking forward to going. Not relying on Schlupp and Edouard up top.

A post full of contradictions.
