JPM has become the striker I hoped he would. He's never a 20 goal a season man but my criticism was he's lack of work rate and not using his physical attributes. This season he's becoming a real nuisance for the defenders, he is holding the ball up and winning his personal battles. Now if we can only find a striker to feed off of him. Way more energetic and more of a handful for the opposition than Édouard. He just needs to be supplied with more crosses (and then get on the end of them) than he is now to become a bigger threat.

He looks really sharp and energetic. I’m so glad we didn’t flick him in January only to watch him flourish elsewhere.

For a while JP and Edouard seemed to be neck and neck as to who was the biggest disappointment. However, JP seems to have found his mojo and is now a valuable member of the team.

It's important in life to admit when you're wrong. But he's been top draw recently. His link up play, the way he holds the ball up..his work rate...and he's shown he can finish too. Not sure he's the long term answer to our striker problem...but he's making a bloody good fist of it right now. Kudos JPM. I eat my words.

He is winning us all over with his improved work rate, incredible ability to hold the ball and his athleticism. Game time + confidence = Better Mojo!!

Credit to Roy and his staff. I think Vieira had given up on him. Credit to JP as well for responding to training and practice. He couldn't hold it up for toffee last season.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

Seeing how we seem to play the ball forward in the air (as last night) he does need to improve his heading. We haven't scored from a corner this season, he and everybody else must improve in this respect. But yes, he has improved making a fair fist of a lack of midfield service. Unless the new manager brings on a marked improvement I will continue to feel sorry for all the strikers who have come and gone and failed because they did not get decent service. I thought Edouard was a lot more lively last night and will be interesting to see how the new manager plays them.

I agree with all the positive comments. His work rate and holdup play have been vastly improved since he returned to the side when Edouard was injured. Perhaps watching Edouard do so well (at least in scoring) sparked a fire. Whatever the case, he's turned from a frustration to a delight. If, a year from now, his stamina is better and he can help us more on corners (at both ends) he'll make himself indispensable.

We need to find a good doping bod so he can last 90 minutes. Could we afford Pep's go to?
