Many thanks for your wholehearted effort and dedication during your two periods in the hot seat (arguably three, if you segregate the post Vieira run of ten games last season and this season).

It hasn't always been plain sailing, but what cannot be questioned is the integrity, passion and hard work you and the coaching team brought to the club. Thank you.

I thank him for all he has done at the club and for steering us to safety in each season of his tenure with Palace.

Hopefully he can now leave with dignity. It would have been a shame if he had been sacked, although he was obviously aware that he probably had little choice in the matter.

I hope he makes a rapid recovery and it would great if he could be guest of honour at the last home game of the season as I'm sure all fans would like to be able to give their thanks and good wishes to him in person.

All the very best Roy, I hope you have a great retirement.

Let's hope the club invite him back for the last home game so he gets a lap of appreciation.

Exactly what I was going to say, all the best Roy.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

I never blamed Roy too much for our current situation, thinking the fault lays more with the board and the imbalanced squad.

However, under the circumstances and his health I suspect this is the best thing for Roy and I hope he fully retires this time. For me he’s level with Steve Coppell as the best manager we’ve ever had in the 50 years I’ve been supporting the club.

I hope the club honour him in some way and he feels he can come back and watch the games. Also believe that he deserves a knighthood for his services to football in general.

Thank you for everything Roy!

Easily one of our best ever managers. He’ll be looked back at even more fondly in years to come.

A more gracious exit than a sacking.

Thank you Roy.

The King is dead, long live the King (OG we all assume).

indeed. actual sacking would have shown such a lack of gratitude.

My two favorite football clubs Viking of Stavanger (my local club) and Crystal Palace - (a fan for more than 50 years) have both had gentleman Roy as their manager!
Thank you so much - Brede Hangeland said recently in a local paper that Roy was a tremendous manager!
