Matz Sels, signed from Strasbourg, managed by Patrick Vieira.
I recall Sels at Newcastle, where he was signed by Rafa Benitez.

But to put it into context they had also spent £10m on a new number one, Matt Turner, last summer and also signed a Greek goalkeeper to challenge him.

So Sells is hopefully (for them) 3rd time lucky.

Apropos Matt Turner, I believe the fee deal wasa fee which could rise to £10 Mill.He has not impressed me one jot.A real weakness is his use of the ball when it is at his feet, playing out from the back is an 'Achilles heal'.

Turner, Vlachodimos and Hennessey were signed by Steve Cooper, Espirito Santo (Who was a goalkeeper) signed Sels.

According to this . . . [Link] We are after this lad from West Brom. Will they do business with us after the Ferguson debacle & is there something wrong going on? We have Johnstone, Henderson, Mathews & Whitworth, Goodman from the U21's. Do we really need another 'keeper?

Mmmm.....five goalkeepers on the pitch may be the answer.

If this is true it again shows the club has no interest in using our own youth talent. (doesn't surprise me the academy stuff was about making money which is why SP kept going on about Chelsea model)

We have a youth keeper remember him he didn't do to bad when we had to use him.
