Yes, an extremely bad idea which I, for one, cannot possibly countenance. The financial loss alone would be catastrophic, the competition is less attractive and we don't have the team capable of bouncing right back.

We will, almost certainly, lose Olise. Eze, Guehi and Andersen are also likely to want a move and although they should fetch a good price we'll be relying on Dougie and team to rebuild for the future.

I sincerely hope we have the quality and strength of character to earn enough points to stay in the Prem.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Relegation just means we’ll have the chance of getting promoted again, which is some of our greatest memories in the past.
One way or another, relegation will freshen it up, clear out of players, new manager, it’s all become a bit stale hasn’t it, in fact I think if we go down I’ll be looking forward to next season more. I know it could get worse if we do go down, but any true Palace fan will still be around and we’ll be shot of most of the annoying know it all glory hunters and tourists who’ve jumped on board in recent years

I am leaning towards this view. More matches to see and hopefully a bit more entertaining than what we currently endure.

Yes, IMO, it does matter if we get relegated because every year we're not in the Premier League will make it more difficult for us to retain Premier League status if we ever get promoted again. It's about the money. The money we've earned over the past 10 years has enabled us to at least tread water in this league. We may be moving forward at a snail's pace but we are moving forward with the Academy in place, a new stand due to be started in a few months time and a good number of international players on our books. A spell back in the Championship won't do the club's future much good IMO.

Exactly this..!!

In answer to OP’s question ridiculous suggestion - are you really saying with Sheff U and Burnley basically gone - we should hold up the white flags to Luton, with the quality in our squad - no, no and no again.

Beyond that as Old Geezer says - the financial loss would be catastrophic and possibly terminal.

You don’t just waste 11 years of building to the point where you are just 2 or 3 players and decent Manager away from being a real Prem force - just because things get a little difficult.

No you fight to maintain everything you have achieved thus far and for the potential that is in front of you and going forward..!!

The Championship is not as easy as you seem to suggest - it’s tough, even tougher if/when we lose our best players.

Then also there’s the question of investment, which we desperately need - we’re finding it hard enough now as an established Prem side - you can double, triple and quadruple that if we are relegated..!!

So in answer the question - no, nope, non, nein…!!

Although I raised the topic, I hope that we stay up but that it gives the board such a shock that they improve the manager and squad - something they should have done last summer

However, if they did not react as above, unless there are some more point deduction occurrences we will be in much worse straits next season. At least two of Leeds, Southampton and Leicester will likely come back up and they will neither have the naivety of Sheff Utd and Burnley nor make the mistake of having severely sub-standard goalies this time around

If there was any season to go down (and probably most of us think it will happen sooner than later) with teams like Burnley and Sheff Utd unlikely to be our standard, this would be the best time for a reset

Wharton is quality, Munoz is a huge upgrade over both Ward and Clyne - so who exactly are you referring to..??

Well Henderson is definitely not PL quality. He’s worse than Wayne Hennessy. I remain baffled.
Richards, Holding, Hughes.
That’s 4.

Mate gulf between the Prem and Championship is huge - in terms of quality - and only getting wider..!!

That’s simply why we must maintain our Premiership status - it’s taken us 11 years to get this far - that’s why it would be criminal to surrender it given the quality in our squad and the academy set up..!!

It would be terrible and I only hope we stabilise things and go again. Our problems stem from poor management from the top down. Steve Parish has lost his way with it and the Americans are like Joe Biden, next to f***ing useless!
