Whilst what you say may seem fair, it still begs the question why bring him on when 3-0 down? Exactly. Less about if he was deemed fit, more about to lunacy to bring on our most important half injured player when 3-0 down. Shut up shop, take hte loss and move on. Indefensibly stupid decision. Losing our best player for Burnley, Luton, and Everton. Games that could have secured our season.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Olise has had surgery on his torn hamstring which was evidently severe following his collision with the keeper playing for France U21s last summer.

There is a mix of ineptitude and poor management by all concerned here, IMO. Edited by The Yorkshire Eagle (10 Feb 2024 8.23am)

I think we have to accept that, Sadly Michael Olise has played his last game for us, Thanks Roy, when his release clause is activated on July 1st he will leave, but only if he is fit, the worst scenario is he is injured again before he leaves, not going to be match fit for us this season. I’m not sure about heaping all this blame on Roy. Would I have brought him on…no The question is why was he assessed as fit to play ? Whoever on the physio side is making these decisions needs to be removed immediately they are dangerously incompetent.

I saw a clip of him walking up the tunnel at Brighton where he wasn't limping, so fingers crossed in the next two months with the right support Olise should be able to make a good recovery assuming he and his practitioners work very closely and communicate well. They should be led by his body, not the clock.

My 10p worth. What has happened is done. Now pointless to keep going over the decision to bring him on. I myself would have given him Brighton AND the Chelsea game off. I would not have had him on the bench and thought of the best chance of the bigger picture. Anyway, as to if we see him again, I think we will. He seems pretty level headed and if he wanted out he could have gone last summer but to everyone’s surprise he signed on with a new 4 year deal. If we stay up I think he will be here next year as will Eze. I think the chances are we are more likely to lose 1 or both of our centre backs first. MG because he is of the quality looked at by the big boys and Anderson because he just looks fed up and wants out. If we go down obviously that changes everything. I also get some comfort that we will get a much truer fee should we sell Olise or Eze now with there new contracts than we would have gotten previously which you would hope be used on the squad not on the new stadium or bonuses

I wonder if anyone at the game can confirm how much of a warm up MO had before the second half? Was he out on the pitch during half time ?
I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals. |

Funnily I have questioned warm up effectiveness for Palace players. Henderson was injured 6 or 7 weeks ago after an early keeper kick that looked suspiciously like it was caused by lack of proper warm up. If I was Parish I’d be all over this as if it is a contributing factor it would be inexcusable from the players, coaching and staff and culture at the club which would point to apathy. Is Roy good at this minutia stuff or has he just become a big picture statesman figure.

If he was even on the bench then our medics/ physios must have said he was okay to play at least some of the game. Methinks the "stupid decision" is more appropriately accredited to them.

As I and others were saying on here live on the match thread just before half time please god don’t bring Olise on in second half UNLESS we get 2 goals back and there’s a sniff of a result. Only then risk him towards the end. That was the sensible risk reward decision and we called it. To risk him, 3 goals down for a whole half showed fuzzy thinking. Was the mistake compounded by him not having time to properly warm up. Let’s not even go there. 😟 Anyway…mistakes are made. We all make them. Roy was clearly panicking at half time and perhaps wasn’t thinking clearly. I forgive. Edited by XKudu (11 Feb 2024 10.36am)
