I understand the caution with Olise, but what exactly does Schlupp offer? There are 5 defenders in the starting lineup and Hughes and Leema can defend well enough, surely we can afford to play more than two forward thinking players?

My guess is we'll play 343 to match Brighton, try and keep it at 0-0 with Olise to come on after 60-70 minutes to win/draw. It's what Roy has done all season. Just try and stay in games.

Having said all that, maybe the team will surprise us. COYP!!

If you where going to play that formation, which i wouldn't, you would play Schlupp at wing back, the only position he can play and Mateta and Edouard up top, for the hopeful crosses from the WBs, and Ayew in the number 10 role.

Barring Jairo and Tommo, our bench almost looks better than the starting lineup.

I’m guessing Roy is again playing for a clean sheet and praying for a goal from somewhere, there can’t be a plan to get one with this team.

If we lose this without scoring, which I am expecting, he has to be sacked immediately… surely?

Having no faith in the team, or ability to coach them, and playing the most defensive XI possible is as depressing as it gets. If it’s ineffective too, it’s beyond madness.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Not surprised.

This is typical Roy.

Try to hold out until second half and do attacking changes is how it looks.

Devil's advocate, but what else does he do?

I know there are calls for Franca to start, but him and Mitchell would be a weak point on the left.

I can't see how Schlupp gets anywhere near the starting 11 though; would have tried Edouard there (albeit he's clearly lazy).

5 at the back seems insane (worked really well against Arsenal!), but we do have an actual RWB now.

As a Devil's advocate that was a piss-poor effort

Is Roy deliberately trying to get sacked ?

Terrible starting line up…….im sure Brighton will be licking their lips.

Horrific vs arsenal, terrifying vs Sheffield, the last half hour, its on talksport 2, not sure I want to listen, I will either be bored rigid or furious, when 2-0 down early.

It seems that Hodgson's attitude is "I'm not enjoying myself, why should anyone else"
You could just about understand a team with literally no creative players in it if there was the chance of scoring from a dead-ball situation when Ayew gets fouled. But we have nobody in the team that can deliver a decent ball in -it will probably be Hughes - and nobody with the heading ability to take advantage of anything that comes in

We’ve seen this defensive “experienced” line up grind out wins in the past and also seen it get spanked to nil!!

In a few hours we will know the answer!

Don't be to harsh on Roy starting Schlupp,
He does have compromising picture of Mr H with the bowl of custard, wellies, donkey & a retired go go dancer...
Black mail will always get you picked

I expect Roy likes Eze and Olise not playing, it means he doesn’t have to fine anyone for going forward
