Agree, There will be an adjustment period, but he's got that Sergio Busquets ability to receive the ball under pressure and lose his marker with a little shoulder drop. He's only 19 but already bossing hte Championship. Hard to imagine him not being able to make the step up. I'd stick my neck out and say that with the platform we'll give him, he may well be knocking on the England door a year from now. No pressure!

This video seems to give a good overview [Link] and showcases some of his attributes. Looks like another exciting prospect. If he is a hard worker then I think Roy will give him his chance, but I doubt he'll be dropped straight in. Surprised to see he does some flips for his goal celebrations!

Really nice analysis, and it doesn't even include this seasons play. The more I watch clips of this lad the more excited I get. Seems seriously talented.

This is completely conspiratorial on my part but I was looking at his YouTube highlights and it seems he absolutely loves a raking pass out to the wings or a long through ball. Currently that skill is brought to the team by Joachim Anderson and I did wonder whether part of Wharton's appeal is potentially keeping that in the side once Anderson leaves...
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

It may well be, and to be honest I hadn't considered that. But watching YouTube highlights I was wondering if any of our centre mids could pick the passes he was seemingly doing with ease.

Anderson would actually be a great midfielder with his vision and passing ability. Lately I’ve noticed he has come forward more. Maybe his defending has suffered and this lad in the middle could give him his defensive mojo back.
