Does anyone know how many corners we have conceded from this season?

Assuming it's at least 5 or 6, that's a big deficit on corners alone - 5 or 6 to none could easily be a 10-point swing in the league table.

It's just another pathetic inditement of how we're being coached.

I can't imagine we even work on set pieces. It doesn't look like it anyway. Do we have a set piece coach? Seems unlikely.
To be fair, this is an area the DOF or Parish could offer a solution. Get in a good set piece coach and tell Roy you want a certain time spent on them. He's an employee after all.

Apparently Dean Kiely (the goalkeeping coach) coaches our set-pieces, which I think says it all.

And what happens if teams like Arsenal have better set piece coaches than us as well as much better players at attacking set piece balls?!

We've scored 1 goal from set pieces this season.

Wolves have 8, Luton have 8, Brentford have 6, Everton have 11, Fulham have 5...

We're the worst in the league - don't let the Arsenal name paper over how unacceptable that is.

Crazy numbers - we'd be looking at the top half if we had 11 set piece goals.

Set-pieces have also historically been a leveller for smaller clubs - it's never been an arena for big clubs to prove their superiority.

I think i heard that Arsenal have now scored 13 from set pieces.
They are not a big side. The forwards have no height and Rice takes the corners. So essentially it's the 2 centre backs winning the first header.

They seem to be quite good at avoiding blockers etc.

It's not rocket science.

The 2 set piece goals i particular enjoyed over the last 6 or so years was Tekkers v Sunderland when he hung back so had to momentum to outjump the defender, and Cahill v Newcastle when he ran from the back to the front post to nod in. Movement is key as is a well directed set piece.

Years ago Billy Gilbert scored a couple of cracking goals by staying back and then only jogging into the box at the last moment. The next week a team caught on and blocked his run early and it was never repeated, but it was good while it lasted

Under the new 'let the play flow' guidelines anything now goes in the penalty area. Arsenal now experts at exploiting this as was shown in the game.

Seems we are playing to the 'old rules' Blocking, holding, checking is now the norm (you see it in all games and every at level) but we are too gentlemanly in adhering to the perceived 'rules'

Until the FA/PL instruct referees to punish the above it can only get worse and we have to learn.

Would help if we had defenders good in the air. In the past we relied on Benteke to fill that function but Mateta is no use and Andersen, Guehi and Richards are sub standard in that respect.

A good throw in can be almost as good as a corner. We are crap at them. Kenny Sansom was good at them and indeed Connor Wickham wasn't too bad either.

Sheff Utd have a long throw specialist

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Is it a hard skill to learn? Maybe not to Rory Delap levels but you'd think someone could manage to reach the penalty area.
It would probably just mean the ball going backwards more quickly than it does now.
