This post has been merged from a topic called 'Board discontent ' by becky Can change that to football discontent, no longer a sport, its now a soap opera with var and the refs playing the villan every week, giving it as much media attention as possible. I'm bored of it now.

If we were 11th would we be having this conversation, what do we actually want? To spend loads of money like Forest and then end up with a likely points deduction?

The fanbase discontent we see from some quarters on the boards has translated to the terraces. Is this a few fans messing around with crayons or a will it be a growing hardcore movement? With 2 wins 8 losses and 5 draws in 15, I suspect the latter. This banner is relevant though, must say. That is where the discontent stems from. Fans didn't turn up the first few PL seasons, booing and moaning because we were battling relegation. We all knew where we were and what the challenge was but we backed our famous red and blue to the hills. I mentioned previously but it is very hard to drum yourself up for each game when you don't feel any real vision or plan is in place. Parish's talks of a top ten finish and bigger stadium are even more insulting now and just about every other club buys players and gets new managers in frequently these days, we do neither. It's a sorry state of affairs. 1 win in 11, 0 goals scored over two cup legs leading to an early exit, a weak squad, no signings to boost the first team and Hodgson still at the helm serving up utter dross which is designed to do nothing more than try to keep us out of a relegation battle. I don't blame nor have any ire against Roy though, he's just doing the job he's been asked to do and I am still very grateful for what he has done here. I do not wish to see us return to the C'ship or be in a relegation battle, I wouldn't actively yearn for that, but I've never seen such discontent and general malaise in enthusiasm from our fans. That was set to last only a short period though, as sincere rumblings were due to happen sooner than later. You can easily see this gathering momentum and becoming a very vocal movement. If Parish is waiting to the end of the season to install a new manager and buy some players, he may well have to communicate this to fans. If he is not, or does not, I wouldn't be surprised to see discontent and grumblings soon turn to very real anger and the antics to demonstrate this toward Parish et al.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

We are not playing how we want to be, but progression isn't always linear. We are relatively comfortable in the prem. We are probably 2 years into a major squad overhaul, our squad age and salary burden is reducing, while our squad value is increasing. We've got some England players We've got a new stand on the way

He will also be communicating this to selling clubs and agents and we will have our pants pulled down. Who would own a football club? So that would be my guess and has been argument before when fans have complained about wanting to know what Parish was thinking. In my mind, I am hopeful of something more than that which often reads as a 'gaslighting' message from the board where we are fed a narrative we know will not and thus does not play out in reality. I wouldn't expect Parish to come out and say "we have 'x' amount of money to spend and will try and sign 'x' from 'x' club for 'x' amount of money in the summer" but I am hoping for something which will satisfy or at least mitigate any panic, despair or rage from fans.

If its true, which it may well be. He'll never communicate it. In the same way no other clubs management actively communicates in that way. But you are right, he'll have to batten down the hatches because it's going to get tasty.

Secondly, will the promoted clubs have far more money to spend? With the PL clamping down on spending under PSR, clubs will be careful what they spend - just look at the big clubs in this window. Finally, we are all suffering from the effects of Royball and that has left us frustrated, angry and possibly even despairing. I'm inclined to grit my teeth and see this season out and wait for developments in the Summer. If the Summer sees the same old, same old, then next season would be the time to consider protest action. However, I suspect that assuming: then fans will be willing to see how the first half of next season goes. That's very much my position and hope.

I have decided to boycott the Sheffield United game in protest at the way the club is being run. The fact that I can't get there thanks to ASLEF is mere coincidence.
