If it were in January until the end of the season, and then we actually bought a replacement, I don't see the harm. We're rubbish on the left. Wilf and Olise as our wide men is better than any current combination. Our current best is Ayew and Olise.

There is little doubt, despite his waning powers, we have missed him.

We are presently a one-person team relying vitally on Olise. Without him, injured or transferred, we are a 'busted flush' as we have nobody else capable of making and scoring goals.

The manager, as is his want, has no 'Plan B' to compensate for the absence of Olise and I am beginning to have grave doubts we can survive this season without him.

So, if he would return I say welcome him back to provide the missing 'Plan B'

Can't see this happening. A sub for Galatasary nowadays and no longer in the Ivory Coast squad (unlike Pepe) There is very little chance he would have any impact in the Premier League. We definitely dodged a bullet if talk of him being offered a 4 year contract at very high wages were true

He still has the Europa Cup, League title and possible Champions League next year in Turkey. Beats coming back to the scene of his former glory as a shell of himself

In the last decade the evolution of modern day football has passed us by as a club and also fan base! Teams like Brighton, Bournemouth and even Brentford have understood that this is a money driven, no loyalty (player or club) business that needs to work on player turnover and balance sheet strength (and the right manager to apply these principles).

Parish and us fans are still living in the Terry V, Stevie C era when players seemed part of the community and Jim Cannon longevity was a given.

That said Wilf offered hope and talent we again crave today but clearly he is not the answer! The next manager will be interesting as it will signal if we able and willing to take a stride forward! If the club still harbors back to the days of Wright and Bright’s exploits then it will be Southgate for sure!

There's some chat on Twitter that Wilf is available for £3m/£4m this January. Personally, I'd take him back and stick him up front. I think he offers more of an attacking threat (finishing, pace, first touch, penalties) than Edouard and Mateta. He can't have regressed to the amount people are saying here as a player as I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting him to sign a new contract (on lower wages) last season?

At £3m plus £75K wages I'd jump at this as a short term solution to our fight against relegation. Would give us time to find a creative midfielder which is the heart of our current problems.
Things are becoming desperate!

He wont , he will frustrate us as we recall the player he was that has long gone .
He probably hung around for a season too long as it was .

This thread is very strange - why is it just assumed he's past it now?

I'm assuming no one here watches Turkish football regularly (myself included), and his last season with us he was still amongst our best players - I can't see why that would have drastically changed in 6 months.

He's got 6 goals in 8 starts for Galatasaray, including at Old Trafford in the Champions League - he's had niggling injuries so far, which is predominantly why he's been in and out of the team, but that's a bloody impressive record.

I don't think there's any hope of a deal happening, but some very weird takes on the thread. We've had Ayew & Schlupp playing off the left most of the season, and people are turning their noses up at a considerably better player.

The few games I have seen, the other players seem reluctant to pass to him. Maybe he is not that popular. I would have him back but not on his previous wage
