He could have instructed his players to make forward runs, get closer to Mateta who was often isolated with no Palace player within 30 yards of him.
He could have instructed his players to make late runs into the penalty area occasionally rather than keeping to a rigid shape which is so easy to defend against.
Schlupp was ostensibly playing left wing but played like a left half and often occupied a similar area of the pitch to Lerma.
As other pointed out , so many players were out of their natural position and didn’t it show.
I was sitting near the directors box and rarely have seen the fans around me so frustrated.
Not angry, or calling for Roy’s head , but just wanting a coherent strategy showing some attacking intent.

I know I’ll be continued to be labelled as a Roy Apologist by asking this question, but what would you have done differently on Thursday then ?

People clamouring for Franca to start got their wish, what else could Hodgson have done to win the game ?

Well hopefully that frustration wasn’t wasted on Steve Parish.

I don’t disagree with the points you are making, but I didn’t see much on Thursday that’s been radically different from most home games this season. So we are really only re-hashing the same issues over again.

I think Hodgson has had bad luck with injuries to an already thin squad. And the result has been to revert to the dull, safety first football to which we have become accustomed. This should not have come as a surprise to anyone.

Personally I think it’s been a wasted season. But that was on the cards from the day that Roy was re-appointed.

Love it I was a left half and inside left before it all changed to attacking/holding /defensive midfielder the good old days

I overheard a Brighton supporter utter to a supporter of our club apropos Mr Hodgson "We had Chris Hughton you have the same with Roy Hodgson". I suspect he was referring to the style of play - Chris Hughton has admitted he is not the most expansive of coaches.

In Roy's defence,he is extremely elderly and forgetful at times.
Believe he forgot he was in a Cup game and was playing for the point!!

In Jan & Feb, 60 days, we’re playing 8 games including the replay. Hardly a heavy workload. And many of our players have missed so many games you’d think they’d be grateful for more match time. Get on with it.

We can't afford any more injuries to our best players and with the replay coming three days before we play Arsenal I would rest Guehi, Andersen, Mitchell, Eze and Lerma. The home game was the time to go strong, the replay is the time to play the reserves and come what may, especially as Everton are a very physical team. Everton play three days before the replay and then have almost two weeks off so they may field a stronger team.

I think the draw is this evening and will be telling for me.

At least we're in there for now so my tune will change in response to the opponent.

If we get a home draw vs lower league opposition, I'll be fully supporting the fielding of the strongest team possible Weds.

If we're drawn away at the Etihad or similar, I'd be happy to see the U21's get a run out.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Apparently, we are ball NO:17

I was convinced you jinxed us (or Everton), but Luton or Bolton is a good matchup.

The hopeless optimist in me still wants to see Palace win an FA Cup before I die.
By the fifth round Arsenal and either City / Spurs will already be out.
Hope we take the replay seriously.
