If City are interested in Olise in the summer who knows what incentives they can offer us to ensure they get him. Another bit of guesswork to throw into the box.COYP

A defensive midfielder, possibly on loan, is the priority. I’ve always rated him in an ‘ok at a big club but would be awesome at Palace’ kinda way!

If I had a choice between Gallagher and Phillips I’d take Gallagher every day of the week. To be honest, my heart always sinks when I see Philipps on the England team sheet and true to ‘form’ he plods along in his uninspiring way with everyone scratching their heads asking how on earth he deserves to be out there. I’d take him on loan at a push as a good replacement for Doucoure.

I think Phillips would be a good loan signing for us as we need cover in defensive midfield. It may suit all parties as well. Phillips needs to play to stay in England squad and he would with us. The question is what are city's longterm intentions with him? I can't see him being loaned to Newcastle as city will not wish to strengthen them (however they may sell to them but then FFP comes in for Newcastle), Juventus is possible but not sure it will suit Phillips The problem for us is loan fee and wages being suggested I can't see us paying anything close to that. I think its possible but late in Window as City decide what is minimum they will take

If City wish to loan him to a Premier League club, I don't see why we wouldn't be in the running. He'd get the level of game time they would want and we aren't competing with them for top 4/Champions league. It would just be a question of if we could afford his wages/loan fee.

I saw an article that Newcastle were likely to not pursue Phillips anymore. Man City wanted a 5m loan fee with obligation to buy. I guess he won't be going anywhere at that rate.

I don't agree. In my opinion, he's not a 'top 6' player. His priority will be getting in the England squad for the Euro's and if fit, he'll be getting 90 mins each week in the Prem with us. A 6-month loan deal is the perfect length of time whilst waiting for Doucouré to recover and gives him the chance to play and to put himself in the shop window for a permanent summer transfer away from City. If the club a seriously concerned about relegation (I'm personally not), it would be worth spending the loan fee and salary. I'm not sure PSG of Juve are a good move for them for the simple reason of lack of game time.
It's a poor deal not worth it when you add up the wages plus the fee you could use that for something better long term. He is not know for staying fit either. The club is not worried about relegation its fans which every year like to make a drama out of it its is clear to see 3 teams weaker are in the league this season.
