I've never understood the logic of hoping for relegation.

Neither do I. What to expect from relegation? Getting promoted again and hoping that the next spell in the PL will be better? It's like deliberately getting divorced because you're looking forward to wooing your ex-wife again in the hope that she'll remarry you and the next marriage will be better than the current one.

It's the fact that every year is a mirror image of the last. Year upon year upon year upon year. In the last 12 years I'd have had more fun being a Norwich fan or a Fulham fan having promotions under our belt and being a force in a division we compete in.

In my opinion if you have been in the Premier league for 12 years and not once made a push for Europe then what's the point? Even if we never got to Europe, if we made the teams that were pushing be looking over their shoulders at us in fear it probably wouldn't be so bad. If your okay with just flirting with relegation then I'm happy for you. You do realise crystal palace are the only team in Premier league history to have been in the Prem for this long and not qualified for Europe?

If i had a crystal ball and saw that the next 12 years would be the same as the last then next season I'm giving up my season ticket

What a defeatist post.
I hope you don't get what you pray for.
I take it you yearn to see the like of Mitchell, Hughes, Ward, Ayew, Tomkins, etc because that's the type of quality you will be seeing.
If you were at Burnley away you would have seen a Championship football match. We won 0-2 and it was the worse premiership game I can ever remember watching in terms of lack of skill and quality. It was awful.
No thank you.
Sack Roy win or lose on Saturday and get someone else in till the end of the season and then get a decent premiership manager who will convince the likes of Eze and Olise to stay and by that I don't mean Cooper.

Roy does a fantastic job of getting able players to get results at the top level, competing against the highest earners in world football.Mateta breaks clear of the Chelsea defence and fails to shoot at goal ,that is not Roy,s fault. The Palace problem is that the midfield is weak.

There’s a simple remedy to your pain - go and be a Norwich or Fulham fan..!!

Meantime IMO - we are just a decent Manager and a few more decent players off - being a very good Prem side..!!

Then the opportunity to push on..!!

Why on earth would you want to swap that to go back into the Championship - just doesn’t make sense..!!

I understand what you mean. But that means you would lose interest if you see no chance of getting into Europe within a certain period of time or maybe never. What if we get relegated and have no chance of promotion in the next few years? Do we then hope to be relegated to another league?
By the way, playing in Europe is exactly the same if you don't see a future, just at a different level. After a few seasons you'll ask yourself: what's the point of spending a lot of money on travelling just to see us get knocked out against teams we should easily beat? Where is the progress? I can have a few fun evenings in a pub in Newcastle, I don't need to go to Romania to see this stuff.

You've just hit the nail on the head. Your totally right. We are a few more players and a manager away from being a good side BUT. . . . the sad thing is, our owners don't have the wallet nor the ambition to actually go out and do what you and what we all want. So will never be anything more than a side just there making up the numbers

Just saying id of had more fun smashing the championship with 95 points finishing as champions and 1 or 2 Wembley play off victories in the last 12 years rather than being that team who are always a few good players and a manager away from being a very good Premier league side

maybe I'm just done with the Premier league. To rub it in even more, We can't even celebrate goals anymore. I’m sick to the teeth that referees no longer have the final say…it’s all down to the powers upstairs who have the benefit of VAR, the worst thing to have been introduced in my opinion!.

Correct. Not the fault of Roy. We need a Kevin De Bruyne in midfield.

Unfortunately marriage, the PL and a besieged castle have much in common: Those who are outside want get inside, those who are inside want to get outside.
