Most certainly. It strongly appears that they couldn't get anyone else in after the demise of PV and were actually in contact with Hodgson whilst PV was still in charge. Come the close season and still no new name on the table, and surprise surprise, Hodgson accepts another year. Didn't he retire at some point previously? I wouldn't trust any of them.
One would have have thought that if the board had done a truly honest appraisal of the playing staff during the close season, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and with £50m to spend, then purchasing a sicknote keeper, an unknown quantity Brazilian, and a sicknote Arsenal reject was a gross misuse of funds in light of the actual here and now glaring needs of cover for certain areas that existed then and still exist now. Those purchases have provided nothing thus far, whilst weak areas are exploited by the opposition, hence our undeniably poor form.
With this in mind it occurs to me that the current squad is the weakest since our PL arrival. The uneven nature of it, individual player ability, lack of cover exacerbated by injury, players serving no role except to collect a high salary, all because Parish and his football director prefer it that way and have managed it to be in an existential sense. With correct scrutiny and honesty it could have been very different but hubris has gripped them both.
It's an incompetent shambles, and that's being polite.

Not anymore... We've been midtable with our season effectively ending every March for about 8 seasons on the spin.

Personally, I'd quite relish the idea of a relegation scrap, it's been so dull for so long. For what it's worth, I don't think we'll be anywhere near it come April.

We'll get sucked down during December because we're so depleted, but when key players return plus a couple of Jan signings we'll get back to normal. I think the worst thing we could do now is sack Roy. He's a safe pair of hands during times like these.

We’re stuck with Roy now until the end of the season (unless his disillusionment extends far enough to see him quit).

I think the only comfort we can take is that there are certainly 3 worse teams than us.

I have a new found preoccupation with the fixtures and results of Luton, Burnley and Sheffield U - which is currently soothing the dismay felt at our recent results.

Bar the Bournemouth game, I don’t think we’ve been far off getting more points on the board.
Admittedly (at the time) I felt the appointment of Roy for this season was a depressing prospect and certainly lacking in ambition at the least - but even I have to accept that with the injuries and lack of squad depth I don’t really see there is much more that Roy could do.

Although I would like to see some of the youth players given more of a chance. Especially Ozoh who I think has all the physicality and qualities to cope at this level - if given a fair opportunity.
