This non dom tax has been going to pay for almost everything according to various Labour talking heads but the reality is that all the wealthy people with non dom status will just fook off elsewhere. Labour have obviously forgotten what happened under Harold Wilson when the top earners were taxed so much that they just up sticks and emigrated to a very welcoming USA leaving us short of any worthwhile senior management No they haven't. They are more than aware of where the money will fly - out. And they do not hate the rich. There are plenty of champagne socialists funding the party who they like very much indeed. This is just window dressing for the masses. The Tories failed to "properly" implement Brexit because they knew that saying they would would do it would get them in; but actually doing it would do in the country. Thus, all lip service. Likewise, the policies they now pledge will be (if actually implemented yonks down the road) far too diluted to be effective but, significantly, post the election victory.

The level of lying that goes on is criminal. It's insane. As with anything though, we're just following the American model. Two major parties to provide the illusion of choice between the same set of crooks. George Carlin was right. Christopher Hitchins sorely missed also. Characters like that should be deified and not the insidious likes of the melts we have or the lunatics across the Atlantic.

They were spot on about this kind of stuff. It's really quite depressing.....I'm off to eat some cake.

A little off-topic (but not much) and I know he must have his photo opportunities, but Starmer strolling down Liverpool docks hand-in-hand with his missus and attired in his impeccable casual gear must be the most cringworthy moment I've observed in a long time.

I have it on reasonable authority that large numbers of very wealthy individuals - non-dom or not - are positioning themselves to take everything out of the UK if Labour get in - and i mean everything! That's an interesting way to describe The Daily Mail.

I think it's harder to find something Starmer hasn't u-turned on at this stage than list all of the things he has. I see Sunak has today said his £36bn 'pledge' to the north he offered to replace HS2 were just ideas of what we can do, and not actual policy. Both entirely unfit for purpose.

I see Starmer has been glittered on stage. Can;t say I condone it even if slightly amused.

If I haven't made obvious numerous times I'll do so now in echoing this and EDN before you: beyond parties or allegiances for me, not a single individual showing even something constituting pragmatism in times it is sincerely needed. Even the lesser of two evils doesn't chime as a useful approach, it's one incompetent or another. If the circus must go on, I'll opt to not contribute to any rat becoming king, at the very least.

The population is like some abused wife getting slapped everytime the abuser comes home. Then we get told that our ex boyfriend who also slapped us thinks he'd treat us better. I'll have to stop now because this slightly weird analogy isn't fitting in with my 'stop crying you tart...there's another three inches yet' image.
