You only have to look at what the US spends on foreign nations to see where the bread is buttered.

If you're Israel then allowing the existence of Hamas is similar to the British allowing the existence of the IRA.....essentially it means that you have continual low level war. They managed to reduce attacks significantly by building that wall (despite the left and Hamas saying it wouldn't) However, if an enemy wants to kill you it'll eventually find a way....all you can do is make it harder. If I were Israel I wouldn't countenance the existence of Hamas.....then again, if I were the British government I wouldn't have countenanced the existence of the IRA. You go to war, defeat or be defeated.....Or you give them what they want while kneeling as little as possible. The British essentially gave them what they wanted with the Good Friday Agreement....as much as they could with the unionists objecting. Israel isn't going to do that. If you're Israel then allowing the existence of Hamas is similar to the British allowing the existence of the IRA.....essentially it means that you have continual low level war.
