It's easy to say the Board are the problem, afterall the Buck needs to stop somewhere. The problem with such overreaction and clamour is that it is ignorant of what decisions 'the board' are making and for what reasons.

My issue with them is with the Hodgson appointment - not the one at the back end of last year(I'm happy to admit that I was wrong on that one) but the year's extension and subsequent lack of transfer activity. RH's tenure last time out, which by the end of his reign had a the same feel to as it does now; Hes a stop-gap, lets get through this year and give his successor the dosh. It exudes an attitude from the board which, in spite of how many times they say they want to challenge the top half, is actually "just survive again". This filters down through the club.

We can only make suppositions on why they went that way and re-employed him, or why transfers didn't happen. Perhaps they genuinely thought of him as the correct option. Or perhaps they tried and tried, and couldn't get anyone better.
Without the knowledge of the rational behind their decisions, it's very difficult to criticise them, bearing in mind how successful this club has been over the past 13 years.

One thing is for sure, there are some much worse options out there than Parish and Co.

Great post CBadger, I agree sir.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I dont think Palace is standing still. I think the club is not maybe progressing as fast as many would like but you do have to be realistic. The higher up the football pyramid you go the steeper it is and the slower the progress.
We football fans have short memories and are very fickle. Before I say this I too get bored of people making out Parish can do no wrong because he was part of a consortium that saved the club but whether any of us like it its a fact, he was. Rewind back to 2010 and we were on the brink of relegation to the 3rd tier of English football. Somewhere we haven't been since the 1970s. Forest, Wednesday, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, City, Southampton have all been there more recently than Palace. Building on that particular bedrock the squad was rebuilt, the stadium was improved as best as can be done within its current structure (I never go into the Arthur, I'm told the toilets are still like something out of Game of Thrones) but the point is they are trying to push forward and compete both on and off the pitch with clubs that have Billions and reside in stadiums Palace could only dream about.
The club invested heavily in the academy which will 100% bring talent into the first team but it takes time. The club does not have 100m or even 50m to spend on a single player so they have to scour the globe for young talent (Franca) and bargains (Lerma) but this takes time. The club cannot afford 50m players in the squad to sit on the bench so the club needs good coaches to work with the best talent we can afford, and yes our second string is currently not good enough but it takes time. The club desperately needs to redevelope the stadium. In London right now where we have a mayor that quite literally wants to charge us for the air we breath and a NIMBY living nearby in every direction, not to mention a Supermarket on site (Raymond Bloye's fault not Parish) that keeps driving the price up on an essential but small piece of land, again, none of us want to hear it but it takes time to sort out.
I personally wonder if the stadium situation will ever get sorted but if you try and look at the positives instead of the negatives we are what we all dreamed of being in the top division. Competitive. Dont try and tell me its a fluke we have survived this division for ten years without relegation. Its impossible to stay in this division for even 2 years on luck never mind ten. We have probably the best first eleven that we've ever had (and thats without Zaha), we still have Olise, Franca and maybe even Ferguson to yet enter the fray.
No one would argue that progress is at a snails pace sometimes but personally I think in this division? Considering what we're trying to compete with? Standing still is progress.

I wholeheartedly agree with the general thrust of these sentiments.
A grin of rapt adoration could be seen on my face.

Problem is we just don't invest in the team enough
Right back we need an upgrade and left back needs competition, Centre back's are fine just get rid of Tomkins, I love our midfield 3 but they need a bit more competition, Olise and Ayew are decent wingers but our failure to replace Zaha will come back n bite us on the behind, we should have atlease picked up a couple of back ups.

We also needed another striker, I just hope we get our injured players back soon. Our last 2 matches we have been a bit rubbish and I can't see it improving anytime soon
