Save the best for Saturday. In some ways the worst thing would be for us to beat them in the cup on the basis that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice.

“I can’t attack the Carabao Cup as I intended to do because I don’t have any players,” an honest Hodgson admitted.

“I’m worried about Edouard’s hamstring. At the moment when I find out a player is out for three weeks, I’m relieved it’s not three months.”

Loaning out, and not planning ahead.

I might be typically late to the party on this but as an FYI we’re on Sky Sports Tuesday night for those unaware. If anyone is going may well be worth bringing your boots…

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

True, it also says on PalaceTV page, they are streaming live as well, didn't think that was allowed due to rights issues

Similar to Plymouth. ManUre have a lot of injuries but looking at their bench against Burnley they still have the likes of Eriksen, Amrabat, Garnacho and Varane. Think both teams will put out scratch sides to begin with a few heavy hitters on the bench. It will all depend how the game progresses whether they are needed. Unfortunately with such a wafer thin squad and lack of firepower I cannot see us hurting them enough at the start.

I think as we're playing them twice in the same week at Old Trafford, they won't want most of the first team making the trip twice.

Won't bother them, quick flight from Gatwick to Manchester & then a short ride to Salford.

Maybe a chance to see what 'Trialist B' can do for the senior team. He seems like one of the few youngens making a real noise and we currently have no left winger fit anyway. I'd play Jairo at left back just to give Mitchell a rest. Yet again he was hobbling on Saturday.

Henderson

Clyne Holding Richards Jairo

Hughes Ozoh

JRS Schlupp Trialist B

Mateta

We are going to need a miracle to get a win so Roy might as well give a couple of youngsters the chance to prove themselves as a couple more injuries and he might be forced to play them in the PL. Ozoh has the physicality if he's fully fit.

Was just about to post this quote. Quite a difference from his comments after transfer deadline day about how if he was a Palace fan he'd be delighted with our team etc.

Honestly, we all knew we needed more players. We all asked for more players. We didn't get them. This is the natural consequence of that.

As someone above said, I'm baffled that we didn't try to get some loan players in at a minimum.

We really do shoot ourselves in the foot, so close to being good enough to progress and just don't quite do enough. Obviously we know we need to sell before we can buy so I can only assume the plan is to muddle through another year and then sell a couple of players next summer in order to fund more investment.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

It really is a bit depressing.

Both the Fulham and Villa games were winnable. Didnt even need to be bringing on world beaters, but just some fresher legs.

We've got away with it the last couple of years with key players being virtually ever present.

If Eze got injured we might as well down tools

In truth we only have Reidewald on the bench that could play central midfield which is the troublesome position for which we have no cover presently. I assume Roy H doesn’t feel he is good enough for midfield? Shame we loaned Killian Phillips out as he would have been on the bench for central midfield and would have played tomorrow. I expect it will be the bench players in the back four with Reidewald at left back and Henderson in goal. As for central midfield it will have to be Doucoure and Hughes again unless we bring in a youngster but that could be dangerous and a Sheffield Utd v Newcastle result if we aren’t careful?

I disagree with you on Jairo playing midfield. In pre-season he performed well at LB & in front of the back 4 on his own. Taylors Lovechild came up with this line-up:-

Henderson

Clyne Holding Richards Jairo

Hughes Ozoh

JRS Schlupp Trialist B(Mathurin)

Mateta
