Ok not sacked then. But Tony Bloom would never have gone full circle when Potter was sacked and gone back to Hughton or Gus Poyet. He appointed De Zerbi and look whats happened. When Parish decided to sack Vieira he should have already had a young ambitious manager lined up and not gone back to a guy who had left less than 2 years before. Sorry I know you lot are all Parish fanboys on here but he isnt fit to lace Tony Blooms boots. Change the record mate .

I didn’t want Roy back and maybe SP is not the best, but some people like to back Parish because he’s doing his best for the club and NONE of us really know what’s involved and how difficult it is to run a football club, so they don’t slag him off when they haven’t got a clue and know nothing about what goes on behind the scenes.

Because they have an owner who actually has ambition and is prepared to invest in the club, unlike us, who has parish who has the ambition but lacks the funds and 3 Americans, 2 who just see us as a safe investment untill a bigger club becomes available and the other one who uses us as some shady multi club scheme to probably syphon money out of.

Maybe it's a combination of things rather than just one thing... The ownership model is different to Palace with Bloom the main owner at 75% rumoured to be worth £1.6B on google today. Palace have a multi owner approach. Brighton are rumoured to be in significant debt to Bloom but he won't recall that debt as he's a massive and wealthy fan of their club. Google states... "Who owns Brighton? Explaining how much owner Tony Bloom paid ... However, the club recorded losses of £270m (6m) in the four seasons to 2021/22, their accounts showed, and remained highly reliant on Bloom, to whom they were £499m (1m) in debt at that point." Obviously it's not just money though, they are smart in their recruitment and have a strong stable team of core people at the club, similar to Palace to be fair except they have invested huge sums of money that our ownership group are not prepared to self fund. Brighton are doing tremendously well, it's actually positive for us at Palace to see because it show's us what is possible with development over time. Personally i'm a fan of Steve Parish and what he and the core team at Palace are doing too, we're taking a different route but the trend is upwards. We now have great training facilities and an academy that should dig us out of trouble should we be relegated, it's also another revenue stream for the club. Then there is the alleged stand redevelopment (Yes, i'm skeptical it's happening too) but if it does then we will leap us up the table of clubs in terms of revenue and ultimately revenue = success in the PL. The only club to win the PL with the top or one of the top budgets in the last 20 years was Leicester City. Let's also look at our spending relative to other PL clubs in the last 5 years, we're 15th so doing ok. Let's stay positive, well done to Brighton but we can catch and overtake, just look at the catchment area of Croydon and South London!!! Up the Palace! Edited by rob1861 (21 Sep 2023 7.50pm)

I am in my late 70s and have supported Palace 70 years so dont give me advice on supporting the club sonny Jim. When Potter resigned Brighton had already lined up De Zerbi.

Hi SarfNorwoodAl, Parish may not be everyone's cup of tea and this is a forum to have our own views on but Parish has delivered the most sustained period of success in our history. I'm sure your bored of hearing it, but it's a fact. As for mistakes, i think Parish believed the American investors would be the people to accelerate our club forward but obviously that's not turned out as hoped, but given COVID and other challenges like the economy, Palace still appear to be a fairly robust club and well run at our current level. De Zerbi has been fantastic, but Brighton appear to have a budget beyond Palace's at this time, Roy is a safe pair of hands and a bloody good safe pair of hands too. Personally, i want to measure Parish over years and the trend is upwards albeit slower than the Brighton progress that's going on. I honestly think without Parish our club would be in more trouble (Textor) not less. Originally posted by SarfNorwoodAl

It is not a shock that Brighton are in the ascendency there has been many teams in the past that have dominated. Preston , the origional invincibles, Portsmouth Burnley, Bolton West Brom. You could go on . It is all about getting things right at the time. Brighton are doing that at the moment compared to Palace. Compare them or us to Manchester City and we re nowhere near. Everything is relative.COYP

The Weed won’t sustain this success for long. It’ll come crashing down around their ears. Edited by Alexi_the_Eagle (21 Sep 2023 8.11pm)

You know it's not just that they lost - which I applaud, of course - but the sheer joy is that they lost... at home... to a late goal... from a bloke called... PONCE!!!
