We always seem to struggle at their ground.

Head says 2-0 villa.

Heart says 1-0 Palace.

2 x my fivers say 0-3/1-3. Get ready for the cash outs at 0-3

I sense a lot of early season optimism in these predictions (most unusual for Palace fans). We usually lose at Villa Park and I will be surprised it we get anything out of the game. I'll go 2-1 Villa but hope I'm wrong and we get at least a draw.

The stats for us at Villa are dire going way back.
I hate to say it but 2-0 the Villans.

A draw will be a decent return from a trip to Villa Park . Probably a low scoring one 1-1

If we can get a result at Villa Park then that would be a sign of progress.
I take a draw all day.

Agree 100%. That's not to say I think we're incapable of taking all 3 points though, but would need a lot to go right on Saturday.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

So it looks as though Lerma's out as well as Guehi... Tomkins is out also, so its either going to be Richards or Holding in as CB cover.

not sure who we play instead of Lerma - I hope its Hughes, not Riedewald. He always looks laboured and off the pace on The rare occasions he plays.

with those 2 missing, (Lerma's a big miss..) 2-1 Villa

Yep, with Guéhi and Lerma out, it 'curtains' from my point of view. I predict a defeat 2 or 3 to nil.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Lerma is a big loss. I feel Ghehi is well covered by Richards. Going for a battling 1-1 draw with a rare Ayew goal.

Somebody's going to have to come in in midfield. If Schlupp stays wide then that leaves us with Hughes, Reidewald or Ahamada. I presume Hughes with Doucoure. In defence, I expect Holding to come in.
I think Holding might be a better signing than we think - he won't have the skill of Guehi but should be strong.
I'm not happy Guehi and Lerma are out - much better chance with them.

Is it worth a predicted starting XI then?

I’ll go:

Johnstone

Ward
Holding
Andersen
Mitchell

Hughes
Doucoure
Eze

Schlupp
Edouard
Ayew

My preference would be:

Johnstone

Ward (been ok recently)
Richards
Andersen
Mitchell

Doucoure
Hughes
Eze

Ayew
Mateta
Edouard
