With the attacking players we have we really should be smashing teams like Scotland and Ukraine out of the park .The gulf in class between England and everyone else we play (until the 1/4 finals of major competitions ) is huge .
Scotland were bringing on Championship players last night while we had the luxury of Saka and our very own Eze

Having said that the second half center back pairing of Dunk and Maguire has to be the worst to have ever been on the pitch for an England team so there is room for improvment

I thought Dunk played reasonably well and, to be honest, I feel for Maguire. He had to stick his foot out as either Ramsdale didn't call or Maguire didn't hear him. He's not a bad footballer but his confidence looks shot.

Eze nearly scored with almost his first touch, but we didn't see much of him after that.

Guehi looked very solid, should think he's got that position to himself for a while.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Frustrating game because of Southgate's negative tactics.

After half time we started time wasting big time I'm surprised this hasn't been commented on, it's Scotland not Brazil.

A centre half pairing of Dunk and Maguire both fighting to be the rear end of the pantomime donkey you just new one of them was going to make a mistake. I hope Guehi is fit for Saturday.

Why does Southgate keep picking players who are not playing for their club or out of form. What does Eze have to do to get a chance, probably move to a bigger club.

The bright spot was Bellingham.

I agree Badger. He looks strong, sharp and in complete control of his game. A terrific young footballer. And only 20.

I think we should put in an offer!

Due to Marc Guehi’s injury, Maguire—who had been sitting on the England bench—was substituted in at halftime. He was met with mocking applause from the Scottish crowd whenever he touched the ball.

Just hope hes ok for saturday

first half we looked pretty good. Bellingham looks to have moved to another level this year - his close control and ability to make space and turn past someone is frightening. all at 20.
Rashford, Walker, Rice, Dunk and Guehi all had good games too. Shame Guehi came off hope he's alright.

2nd half was dull. a Complete change form the 1st. Maguire getting jeered every time he touched the ball was the best bit ! it had to be him to score the own goal. Couldn't make it up. A better/faster defender would have not diverted it into his own goal.
Shame Eze didn't take his goal, he didn't do much other than that (more than Saka though ). Shame the final whistle went when it did too - he'd just managed to get free of his defender and has space to run.

I heard the chant: "Harry Maguire, he scored 'cos you're sh!t", from the England fans.

Best I've heard in a while

Bellingham was phenomenal, kills me but Dunk and Guehi looked a very good pairing (yes only Scotland I know). Eze did not look out of place at all, absolutely gutted he didn't finish his chance after supreme but characteristic ball control.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I know I’m going to come out in a rash for even thinking it, but he did have a good game, I bet the weed lot won’t be quite so generous about admitting guehi had a good one though.

I've only just clocked it Eagleman!

I sincerely hope my employers do not monitor both this site and the BBC thread or some questions might be asked!
