My assumption... is that the assumption racial abuse has been directed at a 'black' player would be given the prominence of 'black' players in the league alongside a predominantly 'non-black' crowd, the prominence of social commentary on racial abuse against 'black' folk and the history behind it all. It may well not have been but equally may well have. Whomever it is directed at when it occurs is not only beyond idiocy for the nature of it itself but also the lack of awareness for policing of it within society these days. 'Benchwarmer' is not something I would consider to be a typical thing to be shouted from the crowd at a player and even if so would be hard to conflate with racial abuse. You'd also hope anyone in the crowd would hear it as clearly as the player (Hwang apparently) and jump to the alleged offender's defence when they are removed. If the person is guilty then they'll hopefully experience the consequences of doing something so thick, if they are innocent I would equally hope the matter will be resolved and a very sincere apology issued by all those involved to this individual.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I agree that racism should not be tolerated at our club or in society. However it is a bit presumptuous to assume that it was targeted towards a black player. It could have been targeted towards Hwang or one of the white players. Race covers all kinds of nationality, national origin, ethnicity and skin colour. Why do people always assume it’s against a black person??? The sectarian abuse suffered by James McClean , and formerly Neil Lennon, was of epic proportions. And the authorities were fairly lax at dealing with it. abuse is abuse. Its probably the reason so few Gay players have come out. And as for Jewish players ? probably the reason Beckham kept it quiet. of course there is surely a blurred line between normal abuse & racial abuse. And a question : what abuse is acceptable for Arsenal supporters to shout at Son when he misses a sitter ? and would you shout something at violent scumbag Joey Barton that you would be reluctant to shout at violent scumbag Marlon King ? Edited by PalazioVecchio (04 Sep 2023 2.16pm) I don't really see why the English leagues have to be nice to an IRA supporter? What would the Irish league be like for some kind of Unionist going on parade for the glorious 12th? McClean could, for instance, shut the f*** up and stop his campaign of f***ing whining. Hard done by bloke on 20k a week, in a country he openly hates. Boo hoo.

Unless you are perhaps suggesting that racist abuse allegations shouldn't be pursued because lots of other potential abuse happens to not be pursued? my point being......we either What we cannot do is pick and choose which abuse to allow and which to censor. Try being a gay footballer in Jamaica ? Or an English footballer in Argentina. will whoever shouted some off colour remarks at the match now be crucified ? meanwhile, an article below..... on a whole town that has given up on ever expecting the cops to enforce the Law.... Sadly this DIY policing is rather too common. On the canals they have various social media groups to warn people about stuff and even individuals. When even the Home Secretary can't get the police to focus on real crime instead of hurty words what chance have the rest of us.
