Yes, change it when we need to or are comfortable. Olise will be back soon. That will make a big difference.

But it is broke, with one up front we struggle to score goals, all of a sudden with both of them on the pitch we look more dangerous and have scored a few goals, all be it, I know one of the games was against Plymouth reserves, but I think it’s worth a go from the start.

Agree. Mateta from the word 'go'. Instead of Ayew.

If both Eddie and JPM can score 10 league goals each or more this season I will be delighted. In the last couple of matches both have shown a little bit more desire maybe Andersen's been giving them whatever he takes for desire.

His contribution to the team is vital; the work he does on and off the ball is invaluable to us. He offers an outlet when the pressure's on with his hold up play and drawing fouls. On the ball, he has the guts to 'take the bull by the horns' and drive forward into dangerous areas, too. When he loses possession, he fights back -I love that. He'd be up there, for me, as a match-starter.

To be fair even when he’s not playing well (not great v Wolves) Ayew works his socks off for 98 minutes. It’s going to be either Edouard or Mateta up front with Schlupp on the left unless we need a goal when her will bring Schlupp off and have Edouard and Mateta up front with Edouard playing on the left. He did that very well at Celtic. Eze will stay centrally. Once Olise is back presumably Ayew might be on the bench and gives us options centrally or wide. Then we have the new lad once his dicky back gets better. It’s a sign of the progress the squad is making that we can have discussions like this. Not so long ago the first eleven picked itself and our bench didn’t frighten anyone! Edited by Palacesince64 (04 Sep 2023 11.42pm)

As I say, I'm an Ayew believer. Edited by Palacesince64 (04 Sep 2023 11.42pm) Edited by Glazier#1 (05 Sep 2023 12.27am)

With the current squad, I like Saturday's set-up. If Schlupp knows he's coming off, he'll work harder while he's on. At the moment, I don't have faith in Mateta's fitness to play 90 minutes, and I like making our side stronger by bringing him on when the opponents tire. (I don't have faith in Edouard's fitness, either, but both of his goals show what he can do when focused.) When Olise returns, Roy will play Ayew on the left. I'd be curious, however, to see Olise's strong left foot on the left wing occasionally. Ayew's defensive work might aid Joel Ward on the right, too.

Ayew will always play ahead of Schlupp and rightly so. There will be a few tweaks to fir them all in once Olise if fit.
