Let's hope that he ends up on a different cloud to Prince Phillip because it could get feisty.

There were some old school aspects to Fayed's personality that I liked and others I didn't.

Nevertheless he's symbol of sell out Britain, where foreigners were and are allowed to come in and buy our national treasures. It should never be allowed to happen and before the boomers came of age it wouldn't have been.

Our elites know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

As for his passport....if I remember there were questions about where his initial wealth came from.....lots of dodgey rumours....but then again, London and our institutions are awash with dirty money that's cleaned via buying expensive property assets so why were they so touchy around him.....not sure.

best not mention Lord Elgin 'buying' those Marbles from the Greeks then. Daylight robbery.

or the British Museum, stacked high in goodies. All fecked* from the four corners of the bloody Empire.

on a more serious note, however. That shrine, that Al Fayad installed at the basement at Harrods ? get it designated a Unesco Heritage site ?

Empires are of their times and a relic of the past (unless you're America or Russia and increasingly China).

However, of all the empires that existed the British empire was the best one that ever existed. We actually improved humanity and living conditions compared to before, at much cost to our own poor. We built modern infrstructure and institutions that all of these countries still use today. God knows what would be the case otherwise. Most countries did worse once we left. We were the modern Rome and as happened with them, decline followed our passing.

Rule Britannia.....and the Irish helped us do a lot of that too.....many great Irish, Scottish and Welsh regiments....because it was the British isles, British empire, not just England.

They were lying around in the open unprotected and uncared for. I don't have a problem giving them back but the Greeks need to acknowledge that we did them and the world a huge favour.

Yes we have lots of other peoples treasures and we have looked after them and cared for them when the locals didn't. Modern mass tourism means that countries now wants their stuff so they can make money off the back of it, not that I blame them but let's be honest about it.

That's exactly what I told the court at the Brinks Mat trial.

The loot was all in boxes unprotected and uncared for, I took pity on it and wanted to nurture it, store it safely so the world would always be able to view it (minus a few millions in expenses).

I was only doing them a favour.

so, to follow your logic. Considering the anarchy of modern Britain and the rise of China.......we should pack off Stonehenge and display it in Beijing.....to prevent a gang of hoodies from spray painting it with shyte about the Slave Trade ?

yup. Sounds like a good idea. You, sir, are a Conservationist. I salute you.
