There's talk going around of this deal being done for £2m.

Let's not muck about - if it's actually in the £2m range that's an outstanding piece of business for a 27 year old CB with a clean injury history that's played 60 league games for Arsenal in the past 3 years.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

Guehi is going nowhere. None of our key players under contract are leaving this window IMO. The Holding move is most likely linked to Richards being sent out on loan to a German club (Stuttgart?) so as to get regular first team football - something both he and his international manager want.

Holding is also an option at RB, neither better nor worse than we have but he's at least a few years younger than the current two options.

It is not just the fee, but the wages. I assume he earns more than Jake O'Brien. An upgrade on Tomkins for sure, but only if we offload Tomkins.

He is on 40k a week at Arsenal, and would play RB, if it is 2m its a good deal.

A goalkeeper signed, and now, we are reportedly after a center-back. Maybe the plan is to not concede too many goals...............................or, score too many either.

He is terrible at right-back. He's possibly even slower than Ward. No chance he is coming in to play right back unless Ward and Clyne get injured. On the plus side he is a good, no nonsense defender and may be ok in a backs to the wall kind of game.

At the current press conference Roy has confirmed the interest in Rob Holding.
Seems a strange move to me.
Centre half is not a priority postion as we are well served there already.
We have gaps at full back and left side of attack which are more pressing.
Just because a player is available at a good price it doesn't make it a good deal if it's a player you don't need.

They would probably shift Pepe for the same amount as there is talk of them tearing up his contract. On the plus side his international manager picks him ahead of Zaha and he plays on the left wing. On the minus side is his 140,000 wages and the fact that he has been s*** for Arsenal and whoever he was loan with last year

Agree in the fact that its hard to argue at £2m.

But I still don't want him. Of those 60 games how many are starts? Last season he started 6 and subbed on in 8 (for a total of 22mins). So he is only playing when they are threadbare.

And I jsut don't understand how he fits. Would he be third choice?

I cannot agree with that, Centre Back are the two positions which receive most cards and also most injuries, with Holding we have four viable premier quality CBs. Tomkins is NOT of the right standard now.
