When we have a situation where by the referees chief makes apologies for three officials in one match on one blatantly clear decision, then something must be very wrong, the game was Man, U Wolves. It’s a constant problem ,it’s happening throughout the Premier league, You have to ask why the two VAR officials could not see the block Arsenal used Monday. We used to have a problem with one ref ,now it’s three. If we get rid of VAR TV will only roast a single ref. What we need is three refs that give the right decision and not just agree to give a wrong one.

I watched some footage of "The Best Premier League Goals" on Sky the other day, from the 90s I think.

There were some great goals, but I'm convinced a fair few of them would have been subjected to VAR checks taking away all that wonderful spontaneous celebrating.

I understand the need for consistency, but VAR gets a thumbs down from me.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

As long as it's not a Rogan Josh, which I suspect would be far too mild for your tastes, Willo.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Far too mild for my palate.
I have in mind for this weekend a 'Gunpowder Kahlia'.

Staying well clear of the transfer speculation debates.

In actual fact it was asserted by some learned gentleman that I "Flounce" when the Transfer Window opens and return to the fold when it closes.

The worst thing about VAR is now I’m not sure who to vent my anger at when I’m at a game. Abusing the ref is how we get the frustration out of our system, but now it’s not always their fault.

It all seems a lot worse now, at least when a ref made a mistake before VAR we all understood it, major fcuk up, vent your spleen at the ref, make your excuses after the game blaming the ref for costing us the game and move on. But now it just seems like a long drawn out complicated farce to still make a wrong decision

This admission makes a real mockery of the presumed impartiality and "professionalism" of professional referees.

Why release this confession now? Has he got a book to sell? Is he hoping to get noticed and be asked onto Strictly?

Talk about erode the confidence of sports fans. I really would rather not have it confirmed that Mike Dean had no issue with choosing not to properly apply the rules. Perhaps a career in F1 officiating awaits?

I guess Anthony Taylor owed him one after that. I wonder if it was a Palace game when Taylor overlooked a clear mistake by Dean? And on it goes.

Having said all of that, I am not sure what the answer is. Just put up with it? Use foreign referees that should have less bias or are less likely to favour certain teams? Have tougher penalties for poor refereeing decisions? Maybe a start is to require them to explain their decisions by being "mic'd up" during the game or at interiew thereafter.

Follow RU where there is Lear communication between ref and 3rd official and get refs who are happy to ask for help, not the arrogant t**ts we see week in week out

Yep andVARseens to be compounding it. Still it’s ok, the “smaller” clubs occasionally receive an apology but nil points

Indeed & I am not convinced that 25,000 of us singing at the ref "you dont know what your doing" actually helps the situation.
