As I recall, we (through Geoff Thomas) hit the post at 0-0. Imagine if that had gone in; we might have taken them! When the penalty was awarded to us, at 0-6, I sensed a comeback, but sadly Geoff was much less accurate from the spot than his previous effort; in fact I think the ball is currently somewhere between Mars and Jupiter and still rising. Galvanised us though didn’t it, we then went down to a good saints team a few days later and got a draw, then revenge in the semi final It was strange the next morning, because we made the front page of the papers as well as the back

Score wise it was obviously terrible, but I do tend to agree, I’ve always said, I’d love to see the stats like they have readily available on every game now, because I swear Liverpool scored every time they attacked and it wasn’t totally one way traffic, we hit the post and missed a pen Every Liverpool move seemed just about perfect. If I were to guess it seemed like they scored something like 9 out of 11 on target. We attacked a lot and missed all of our chances. It was actually a really fun day despite the result. I seem to remember Liverpool allocated a lot of extra tickets for us. We seemed to have loads of fans and we sang like crazy. Of course, we started cheering the Liverpool goals and every pass they made. Singing "we're going to score in a minute" for about fifteen minutes after the match had finished was a particular highlight. Suckling got all the blame but I'm not sure he was that bad.

The gallows humour that night was brilliant, once we were 4 or 5 down we were passed caring and it was a good atmosphere. I’ve always been quite proud to say I was there despite letting in nine and the long journey with my leg in plaster and I do actually look back on it quite fondly. So much more than the opening game away at QPR, closer journey and we only lost 2-0, but first game back after promotion we were expecting so much more and it was all a bit of an anti climax I felt sorry for Perry, he was so exposed wasn’t he? It basically finished him with us and he never really recovered and got replaced by big nige

I remember losing 3-0 at the new den one New Year’s Day!! Although that probably felt worse because we were all a bit fragile after the night before.

Not only the worst Palace performance but worst game I can remember seeing - Palace 0 Huddersfield 0 - last game of the 71/72 season. Neither team could be bothered as nothing was at stake and it was a wet miserable afternoon to boot.

Losing 6-1 at home for first game of the season 94/95 against Liverpool was a tough one. For pure misery I remember us losing 1-0 at home to Coventry from a Brian Kilcline free kick back in the 80s. Terrible game and was before we got a roof on the Sainsbury's so was very cold and wet !

It definitely brought us back down to earth after the highs of promotion. The late great Ray Wilkins one and only appearance for us as he broke his leg, it just wasn’t our day

Turned out to be George Burleys last game. A Jason Puncheon hatrick against us. I very rarely leave early but was so disgusted I walked out at 2-0 after about 65 mins. Just after I left, they scored a third and everyone flooded out the away end. A gutless performance with the most pathetic central midfield pairing of Owen Garvan and Andy Dorman (I think!) Turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it became the start of the Dougie Freedman era and the rest is history.

I was at that one and agree 100% ...I think Huddersfield were already relegated but should have won.
