I’ve somewhat lost hope in us signing a new AJ/Murray as I think any striker capable of getting 15+ goals a season for us would need the stars to align to happen - would have to be available for a modest price, current club would have to be willing to sell, would have to be relatively unknown (as would be happy to come to palace and not someone ‘bigger’), would hit the ground running and continue in this vain. Seems a very long shot. We may well need cover for Edouard but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that may be Franca. I equally do not consider LB a priority, upgrades are always fantastic but with limited options I’m happy to support and have faith in Tyrick, without criticising his detractors. There’s cover there too. We need a GK of course and I’d prioritise a RB however a winger would be my No.1 pick if I had any influence. MO staying is great and he may play a more significant role. Ayew looks to be hitting peak form and importance for the team also. I’d therefore settle for the likes of Sinisterra or Fatawu just as added cover/competition. If Olise struggles to return from or find form following his injury, or something happens to Ayew, we could look very light up top very quickly.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

When you think what we’ve had up front in the past and what we’ve got now. This team deserves a half decent goal scorer. I know some say we don’t create enough and anyone would struggle up front for us, which is partly true. BUT the great strikers we’ve had would make something happen on their own with their work rate, chasing down defenders, screaming for the ball, attacking the ball in the area, our current two AND Benteke before them just don’t appear to have that same desire or fire in their bellies, or quite simply the same ability

I’ve got a feeling we’re done as in decent signings. SP said we’re in a good position where we’d like to do one or two things but we don’t have too. That tells me we might sign a couple of ‘bodies in the door’ type signings just as cover, squad players. So basically not the decent striker to replace Edouard and Mateta we’re all crying out for. I would feel happier if I read Roy Hodgson making comments like that and not the Chairman who is supposed to be an administrator. I've yet to see Khaldoon Al Mubarak pontificating in public about how many players Manchester City need

If we were about to loan Lewis Hall I assume that we now need to bring someone else in to cover whatever we needed him for

As for the 1 or 2, the Portuguese winger may actually be a genuine target. He's the right kind of price for us bargain basement hunters now that we've splashed the cash on the the potential Eze replacement. As for the other, if Mateta is sold we could go for Dennis who can play across the front line. AS much as we might like to upgrade our FBs, our defence is pretty solid with the double pivot of Lerma and Doucoure (assuming the latter stays) as a shield and the pressing need is for more attacking players. I really Think Eze will be at Palace a long time, mainly because he likes the free role, with limited defensive duties, nobody rates him higher than me, but will the top,top teams allow him that freedom, and if they dont he is half the player. the Le Tissier syndrome.
