If we pick up a couple of loans as successful as Gallagher, Ashley Cole or Paul Stewart then bring it on, sadly they’re rare

I suspect there will be some good loans around this season. A lot of hte big clubs, have expressed the need to reduce their squads. Couple with us reducing the wage bill a bit, we've got a bit more fun money. Only issue with the loans is that they tend to happen late, so you have to hold your nerve, and it cant be a priority position.

Is Greenwood totally persona non granta here? Just what Palace need football-wise and United probably will be happy to put him out on loan and postpone any decision now they have bought Hojlund

Gallagher gave exceptional value as a loanee. But generally, they don't give 100% for what isn't their club anyway. Palace does really well to punch above its weight. By which I mean the Board doesn't spend much money. It is difficult to see how it can ever finish higher than 12th in the Premiership unless it gets the chequebook out. I wonder whether the Board is, despite any claims to the contrary, very happy just to motor along, being part of the elite that is the Premiership. It's galling to fall behind the likes of Brentford and Fulham. Brighton is at another level now.
