I suspect we would need to pay significantly more than that to get a decent one - 40m at least IMO.

I make you right actually, I meant to put ‘or more’

Although he didn’t score many for Burnley I remember him being a handful against us at Selhurst and was very unlucky to have a good goal chalked off for offside.

I wouldn’t mind him even if an option off the bench as a target man when we are chasing a game.

that's my thinking. The beauty of Wilf was he could play anywhere across the frontline so losing him creates quite a big hole.

Roy is clearly not convinced by either OE and JPM (is anyone?) and did play Ayew in the No 9 role a couple of times last season.
I was hoping Plange would push on but after a disappointing loan last season he wasn't included in the 22 squad for the US tour, so that speaks volumes.

I think we need an additional striker and clearly have a very limited budget. Weghorst could be a cost effective short term loan solution. For comparison Fulham have just spent £5m on a 32 year old.

Luke Plange IS in the US, but, with the U21's with their tournament.

that IS my point - he has not been included in the 1st team squad of 22. I notice as we are short of strikers young John-Kymani Gordon IS included in the first team squad (not the U21s).
As he was on loan at Carlisle last season i doubt he's ready for the 1st team yet.
However, the fact that he appears to be in front of Plange indicates Plange's lack of progress in the last year.

Exactly this. Clearly, of the youngsters, Roy and Co. want to look at Gordon, O'Brien and Rak-Sakyi before deciding what to do with them this season.

No doubt, Plange and Ebiowei will go out on loan if anyone wants them that is. Equally, despite his excellent free kicks, it increasingly appears Banks hasn't that much else in his locker that will enable him to make the jump to the PL.

Totally agree with this.

Back to WW, he played the 1st half of Burnleys game v Benfica & no, he didn't score, funnily enough it was the 2 full back that did, for a 2-0 win.

My local club Stockport has been strongly linked with him after his decent loan at Bradford last season.
They are an ambitious 2nd div team looking for promotion. Maybe a sell rather than a loan is best all round.

Esque

This sounds like desperation coz w3 haven't signed someone. Do we really need another ineffective striker?
