Look who it is! Good to see you PTJ, maybe you're right, maybe this will be your season.

One hour to go! Once again, head-to-head league, with the top eight entering a knockout phase after GW35 culminating in a final in GW38.

The Holmesdaleship II has reached its knockout stage, with four quarter-final matches to be played in Gameweek 36.

The quarter-final matches are as follows:

Erskine Rovers ( 3 ) v Ingerrlund ( 6 )

Oval Ballers ( 5 ) v Clyne of Duty FC ( 4 )

No zaha no cry ( 8 ) v Smashville ( 2 )

Melchester Rovers ( 1 ) v Glad All Over ( 7 )

Well done to those who qualified for the knockout stage.

Please note that the Gameweek 36 deadline for completing your transfers and setting your starting XIs is TODAY - Friday, 3 May at 18:30 BST.

Commiserations to the 10 of you who didn’t make it through this time. I hope you all enjoyed taking part and will be back again for another go next season.

Whether you qualified for the knockout stage or not though, every single one of you still finished ahead of me! Despite my best efforts, my Allthewayupta Palace team finished dead last this term, winning 10 out of 35 matches. I doff my cap to you all!

Thank you to everyone involved. I’m off to collect my wooden spoon now!

Holmesdaleship II

Holmesdaleship II final result:

Oval Ballers ( 5 ) 53 - 74 Smashville ( 2 )

As the season finally reached its climax, it was left to Oval Ballers and Smashville to contest this season’s Holmesdalehip II final.

With some astute differentials in tow, including our own Daniel Muñoz and Michael Olise, Oval Ballers still had an ace in the pack in the shape of their Triple Captain chip. Saving it until the very last moment could have proved decisive for the fifth-seeded side with a 20-2-13 record, and it was Chelsea’s Cole Palmer who was chosen to score the hoped-for bumper points haul.

Smashville had been on song all season though, producing an excellent 24-2-9 record that had peaked at the number two spot prior to the knockout stage. With a chipless Palmer as captain, and sharing five other players with their opponents, Smashville needed their differentials to perform.

It was the power trio of Spurs’ Pedro Porro, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Newcastle Utd’s Alexander Isak who successfully collaborated to achieved just that, with each recording double-digit performances to take Smashville to the top of the charts.

Smashville also recorded the second-highest Gameweek points total over the course of the season with 2201. A very respectable figure especially when you remember that it only includes points scored before the knockout phase begins in GW36. Eighth-placed No zaha no cry, who were defeated by Smashville in the quarter-finals, had the highest total with 2239. Very impressive scores from both teams.

Commiserations to this year’s runners-up, Oval Ballers, who were very unfortunate not to profit more in the final from their Triple Captain chip. It would have been easy to use it sooner, but it took real nerve not to blink until the very end, gaining an extra edge when it matters most. Another good season from Oval Ballers who are consistently solid performers in the league.

There were 15 Gameweek scores of 100+ in the league this year. The highest – in fact, the two highest – occurred in one match in GW34, when High Flying Eagles defeated Delboy’s Eagles in a 139 - 131 win. There were four other centurions that week, as managers took advantage of the clubs who had double fixtures. Great talent and planning on display from many among us!

Some very fine team names as always, and it’s good to see so many familiar ones coming back each year. The standouts for me were Clyne of Duty FC, Fraybentos, No zaha no cry, OliOliOli…..OiOiOi and this year’s winning team, Smashville. I think my personal favourite though was Crystal Polise. Excellent work!

Congrats to this season’s winning team, Smashville! I think it’s fair to say you ‘smashed it’, and I hope you’ll be back next season to defend your title. Very well done!

Holmesdaleship II 2023/24 Champions

Smashville
