I'm amazed that so many, on other threads too, seem so relaxed about parting with Guehi.
They may say they are just being realistic if a big offer is forthcoming, but I think we should fight tooth and nail to keep him.
He's our best, fastest and most consistent defender who rarely misses a game.
He has established an excellent partnership with Anderson which gives us a foundation to play.
He doesn't strike me as a player who would agitate to move and to sell him would weaken us even if we buy a replacement.
There aren't too many Guehi's around.
Parish has previously said his aim is not become a nursery for the top 6.
Is there a change of strategy?

Personally think we could replace him with a similar type for less money even Richards could replace and give us a bit more height in defence which is a weakness. Also would hopefully release some extra funds for a striker.

Problem with Richards is that he only seems to be fit fit a dozen games a season.

I think Guehi will not be easy to replace. Think we should be asking £70 million upwards. Could be Englands centre half for the next decade.

What make you say that, proof?

FYI he has had 1(one) injury since he's been at Palace, lasted a total of 6 weeks.

I thought he arrived with a knock, got a injury after a handful of games and then picked up another slight knock after being back in contention.

He played 9 games according to Wiki. So whilst ‘no proof’ it seems a leap to say he’ll replace Guehi.

I hope he comes into contention, as he looks good.

I agree with you there matey , i think we should and would be be a very good window for us if we held on to the players we have bar Wilf as we have proved we can both score and win without him. Guehi value is not going to go down between now and the next window and by then we could be safe from relegation and in a better financial position .

I also agree. Andersen and Guehi have provided a fantastic base for the team over the past 2 seasons and either of them would be extremely difficult to replace. But not sure what the economics are. If we have to lose Wilf plus one of Guehi, Anderson, Eze or Olise then maybe it has to be one the centre backs. But I would rather try to build.

I think the question is how much do we have to spend, if it is not a lot, then i think 60m clear to us, is more valuable than having Guehi, personally i would try everything to get Nketiah, who i think will become England's best CF in a couple of years, and temp Nelson to join him, he is one of the quickest players in the premiership, and having Richards, who i rate highly, and already turn down a 7 figure bid for O´Brien, if the kitty is low it would benefit the team as a whole more, just my Opinion.

Of course we all want to keep him. IMO he's the most naturally talented defender I've ever seen at Palace.

But like it or not, every player has ambitions of playing with the best. So we need to balance our own aims and objectives with his.

He's sort of 3/4th choice England CB at the min, probably level pegging with Mings. He 100% need to be starting for his club, but starting at say Spurs would help his cause I'm sure.

So if he can find the reassurances that he's a nailed on starter, and they are willing to pay well over the market rate for him then we have to seriously think about letting him go.
