I think that this would be a mistake. I too think it’s a mistake. We have been riding a crest of a wave the last few weeks but we’ve played no one really of any substance other than a pretty poor Spurs team who we looked largely toothless against. It’s Arne Slot for me if we want to show some ambition.

Given Roy's ability make the best out of the resources available to him, this to me signals a lack of intent in the transfer market this summer. Or am I just being overly negative ? Appointing Roy for another year gives the club a decent chance in staying in the Premier League, and that appears to be the extent of our ambition.

I find myself in agreement with both the for and against comments, both sides of the argument have been well presented and make sense on their own terms, which suggests the impasse in which we find ourselves. Roy can't really take us forward but is proven reliable and experienced within the parameters set - low budget, mid-table status secured. However what is the plan looking further ahead after his eventual departure?

It is rumoured that Zaha wanted to know about the club's plans including managerial appointment to ensure that the club's ambitions matched his own. It was further more recently rumoured that Zaha was unlikely to sign a contract extension with us. I'm guessing that the two are connected

We aren't going to win anything, so what exactly is he hoping for? Our spending limit dictates what we can do, and that cannot be changed unless someone buys a chunk of the club. Wilf will either stay or he won't. I expect he is waiting to see how bigger pay rise he can squeeze out of the club.

Bye bye Wilf, you said you wanted European football, and now your contract is up you have your chance.

Much as I love Wilf, investing £200k per week on a 30 year old player is the kind of madness that Chelsea engage in. I saw it reported last week that the Board is split on the offer. I would take that as another Parish v. Textor issue.

never thought I'd say this, given how stale things were at the end of his last spell with us. But if he can keep the current trajectory going then I'd be ok with him staying for a season. I'd still expect some of his known limitations to show themselves next season, but at least we know what they are now. I doubt we have a decent plan B, and a positive season with RH could put us in the shop window for a better manager (and players) in the future. And the owners have a whole year to work on it and get that person in place.

For years and years we were stalwarts of the third and fourth tiers, and second tier was respectable. Out stadium is a bit of a dump. Staying in the Prem, and slowly strengthening our infrastructure (training facilities, academy, stadium one day) are perfectly reasonable ambitions. Any season mid table in the Prem marks us as a better team than the Champions of the Championship...which is to date the highest real honour the club has ever achieved.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Perhaps some sort of appearance bonus could be negotiated.

It’s a decision that will undoubtedly split opinion. There will be those that see this as a negative move by the club. Personally, I’m delighted if this is indeed true. The players look happier, training sessions seem to be clearer and Roy is getting the best out of the team. So .. why change things? Gives Paddy a further year to work along side Ray and Roy.
