Crooks is supposed to be picking his best eleven from the last matchday. His comments justifying his selection of Eze were 60% about the Andersen incident-I havent seen too many comments about Haaland kicking Andersen on the head which was the definition of the red card earlier this season,oh I forgot, here the culprit is a Man.City player-then a few words about Eze and most of the remaining article about the young manager who was sacked. Let me just remind him how Eze was during the last Vieira games(when he played!!!) and how he is under Roy. Everytime we see him he has a broad smile on his face. That says something.

Clueless and Classless. He can’t get over the fact that Palace had the audacity to sack the only black manager in the PL. The manager who was not playing Eze and when he did it was out of position. Edited by Spiderman (16 May 2023 7.39am) Yeah, this speaks for itself. I'd add that the amount of black pundits on TV is also up there percentage wise, some really good ex-pros who for whatever reason didn't go into management.

Bang on the money. Although I did think Anderson should have gone and had it been the other way around then we'd be calling for a red card. Totally agree with you on Eze. Crooks' comment that he would have thrived under the young upcoming manager we sacked is total rubbish. He looks an absolutely different player under Hodgson compared to Viera, free scoring and scary for opposition players to play against. He just glides across the pitch and makes the game look easy. Next season he just needs to produce it more against the top half teams, mind you if he does that the big boys will come calling very soon.

I've just submitted a complaint to the BBC about Crooks' closing comment, saying that - particularly as an older member of society - I'm offended by such blatant ageism from a BBC correspondent. It's very easy to do, should you feel inclined:
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

What has the manager’s age got to do with what Eze and Olise need? Both have pretty much shown with their performances that Roy manages them better than Viera. Exactly. PV rarely ever started them together, and whoever started was invariably substituted.

Funny how in industry everyone wants a wise old head to guide them. But in football it has to be someone without much experience. Good job we don’t do that with apprentices in every other walk of life. Would he say the same for a trainee doctor?

It's very easy to do, should you feel inclined: Well done YT and thanks, done mine: Garth Crooks often demonstrates an insistence for giving his opinion despite it offering no insight or remote demonstration of intelligence however I have found his latest comments offensive. He should be within his rights to subjectively criticise Crystal Palace and forever complain about Patrick Vieira's completely deserved sacking, albeit it would be preferable elsewhere than via the public broadcaster, however his statement apropos Roy Hodgson's employment at Crystal Palace are ageist, possibly racist but downright offensive - "All they need now is a young manager to help them develop. Oh yes - they had one of them and decided to get rid of him." To anybody remotely informed this is an insult to somebody still in employment, a mockery of his age (75) and potentially a personal, subjective and a not only highly ignorant but juvenile and bitter statement. It's offensive, ignorant and ludicrous he remains in your employment, I would strongly suggest my cat has more interesting and informative insight to offer on footballing matters. At the very least he will launch less personal attacks on the elderly. I played the race card, if only for the irony
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
