i think the thread should have been named who do we want to see promoted . Personally i would like Coventry, no to far to travel and plenty of room for away supporters unlike Lutons subuteo ground

I think we have become a bit like Coventry were. They were in the old First Division for ages, flirted with relegation occasionally but usually ended up comfortably above the drop zone.

Early days but I don't think the new crop will be as good as this seasons, who have done really well.

Burnley, Sheff U and one other, it will be a tough ask for them.

Burnley will get all the Man City loanees, plus they obviously have a lot of Premier League experience. Sheffield Utd aren't likely to splash the cash.

I think Burnley will only be able to take one loan from City.

Direct style of football.
Playing against a Sunderland team missing their top scorer in Ross Stewart, their captain in midfield and their regular central defenders who would have coped better with the aerial threat posed by the 'Hatters'.
Full-back Dennis Cirkin who is 6ft was missing and he would have been useful aerially.
Patrick Roberts who normally plays out wide was deployed at right-back and Trae Hume a full back was used to partner Luke O'Nien in the centre of the defence.

I agree however there have been some quite dramatic and awful seasons this year from previously established clubs - S'ton, Leeds, Leicester and Everton. You might even thrown WHU in there, Wolves struggled and we went through a horrendous patch too.

I think the above has therefore helped the new plucky sides in looking more likely to remain in the league. Next season they may equally struggle, as well as one or two 'established' teams (hopefully not us) so three coming up may just join that cohort and hopefully try and do better than the others. If the likes of Forest try to sign another 40-80 players that could equally spell disaster for them. B'mouth haven't looked great so throw in a 'second season syndrome' there too could be disastrous but I think Fulham will be OK.

Burnley under Kompany will be interesting, I feel tempted to bet my house on Sheff Utd. going immediately back down and as always little hope for the play off winner.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

If Luton go up it’ll be an incredible turn around, Bromley missed playing them in the national/conference league by a season as Luton were still non-league until 2014

I believe John Still was manager when they got promoted out of Non-League into Division Two.

Nathan Jones has been pilloried and lacerated for his management at Southampton, but he got Luton promoted from Division 2 into Division 1.

The following season Luton were 2nd after 26 league games when he departed for Stoke.Last season,in his second spell as manager,Luton finished 6th to reach the play-offs, so he deserves plaudits for his efforts at the club.Mick Harford succeeded Jones on an Interim basis and he got them promoted into the Championship, finishing top of the table.

I went to highfield road loads of times, first time was in 1980 the Clive Allen goal that wasn’t, I did Luton including the notorious cup game v Millwall in 85, a Millwall mate of mine said come to Luton with us, we’ll have a laugh he said

Did Ayresome park, what a dump that was, but never made it to roker park

Their rise and fall just shows what can happen at a poorly run club and then obviously a well run club, regardless of who was in charge of the team, they’ve obviously been getting good players in on a tight budget

I recall going to Luton in the season we were promoted under Alan Smith.Chris Coleman scored the goal in the opening minute.
