I'm sure you are right about Salako. The game took place just as The Sun revealed that Justin Fashanu was gay. Consequently his brother John, playing for Wimbledon, got tons of "banter" from the Palace crowd.

My memory may be playing tricks on me, but wasn't this the game where Terry Hurlock was sent off (possibly it was a second booking) for doing a bit of 'goalkeeping' to stop a Palace goal? no, the Salako in goal was the next season (Aug 91) - we won 3-2 after being 1 down and with Martyn sent off. Luckily Phelan handled a goal bound shot and was also sent off just before halftime to even up the numbers.

The 4-3 was just after Justin Fashanu came out, so the sympathetic crowd gave his brother loads of abuse. He did score twice that day, so maybe we should have kept quiet.
