In the past month we have seen sudden changes at the Palace. PV out Roy in. Zaha breaking down again with another serious soft tissue injury. Our first team, reformed under Roy, coming up with 100% win record in three games. My concern with Wilf moving forwards is a bit like Jimmy Mac. Is he starting to pay the penalty from the pressure on his body from the modern game? Many have said over the past 18 months how he is losing his pace. Although this season he has played very well, my view is he is starting to feel it. Both physically and mentally. With the cracking victories under Roy, we are almost certainly safe and Im sure we will be totally safe in the next few games. The team is looking unshackled and playing very well as a team. Wilf's wages are now totally out of sync with the rest of the squad. He gets paid 50% more than the next best paid player. He has no sales value left for us as he is virtually out of contract. In my view, we are suddenly in a no lose situation with Wilf. We are winning without him at a time when he has no monetary value to us anymore. If he decides to go that is the end of the matter. If he stays, I would move his salary in line with our other top stars and I would not expect so much from him on a regular basis. Give his body a chance in his thirties. We all know he loves Palace, but he needs to do what is best for himself moving forwards. My advise to Wilf would be Saudi as I believe, like with Golf, they are in the process of building a platform to attract more top stars and the financial rewards are mind boggling. Interesting situation. The team, very well led by Roy, has dispersed our concerns of life without Zaha so we are all becoming more relaxed about his future. Either way, Wilf has given us all years of fantastic performances never to be forgotten. He is already cemented for life in the top levels of our hall of fame. Whichever way it goes, I wish him all the best moving forwards.

Was surprised to hear the crowd singing “ he’s just to good for you “ when Eze started tackling Ward Prowse yesterday

Personally I couldn’t care less what he thinks, good or bad. Eze is deserving, the fans yesterday certainly thought it.

If Newcastle qualify for the Champions League I would imagine that he would be a target for them

How do we know Wilf hasn't already signed a pre-deal with another club?

Whichever way it goes, I wish him all the best moving forwards. Soft tissue injuries (of which Wilf has had two this season) are among the first signs of physical decline. I suspect the years will start to catch up with Wilf at a quickening pace from now on, and remember he started playing "men's" football young, so he has a fair few miles on the clock. I would imagine there will be interest from the top six, but it won't be what it would have been in the past. The likes of Arsenal or Newcastle will see him as a role player; someone who can start some games and change matches off the bench in others. I doubt they'll see him as a plug-and-play starter anymore, and they'll make offers to him accordingly. It may well be that Parish comes up with his most lucrative offer, at least in England and Europe. My guess is his choice will boil down to silverware (top six club in England, or elsewhere in Europe) or a very big contract from us (which, personally, I wouldn't offer but I suspect Parish will) because though he'll doubtless get offered a wedge, I can't see him going to Saudi. And if we finish the season strongly, I wouldn't be shocked, if Parish puts the money on the table, if he re-ups. Wilf has an ego, and I'm not sure in the final analysis being the kingpin at Selhurst and cementing his legacy won't be more attractive than a lesser role elsewhere. The truth is Wilf's opportunity to make it the very top came and went two or three summers ago. He has some big decisions to make. Edited by sydtheeagle (16 Apr 2023 10.06pm)

I have watched Tyrick closely in last three games & he plays more confidently & plays to middle not now looking to the left wing 99.9% of the time Yet when he does look down the flank he doesn’t see a certain person flapping his arms or pulling grimaced face at him -

wilfs biggest mistake was the same as harry kanes....signing a long term contract with no get out clause. I really thought that bournemouth game 5-3 would be his last game for us a few years back. Should have left 3 years ago. I would have loved him to win a trophy.
