But great to know that we have a natural successor and/or don't need to worry about injuries.

Each to their own.
I've been itching for Sam to get his chance and have been delighted with how he has performed in the last 3 games. I hope and expect him to retain the jersey for the rest of the season.

Of course, what the new manager decides for next season is anybody's guess.

I note that in today's press conference, Roy confirmed that Johnstone will be the starter tomorrow and made it clear that Guaita will have await his opportunity.

We must be the best endowed team for keepers in the Premier League

1. Sam Johnstone
2. Vicente Guaita
3. Jack Butland (on loan at United)

Three of the best. I bet Leeds would like one of them, possibly Spurs as well.

But keeping them all happy ? Well that's the rub ...

Virtually guaranteed that Butland will go at the end of the season. Apparently Rangers want him which would be an ok move for him. The young lad who filled in this season will probably be our third choice.

I hope Roy keeps him as number 1 after his first mistake late in the game.

I think he has to be our number one going into next season, and to drop him after one mistake would be the wrong decision.
he was solid again tonight, commands his area, talks to the back 4 and is much better with his feet(normally).

I love that we have 2 great keepers but Johnstone is a slightly better all round option.

Was it really a penalty? Sam J. hit the ball cleanly and never touched the diving Wolves player. Guess if it had been the other way round, Olise tackled in the opposite area that pr...ck of a ref would have waved it on.

He flew in studs showing. An outfield player could have been shown a red, so he got lucky.

As no contact was made a Yellow was the correct decision . The referee would have deemed it as reckless play (yellow) rather than dangerous play or using excessive force (red). He could have seen it as careless play and not given any card at all

It was actually for me borderline if it was even a penalty ,Ive no complaints that it was but was one of those that had it not been given would not have been overturned

I think it was a yellow and a penalty - just.
The wolves player however, rolled around and twisted like an animal in its death throes - absolutely pathetic.
He was then attended to by his own players - no trainer (from memory) who appeared to tell him that it was okay to stop acting now - the penalty had been won.
Every week we all go and watch 22 cheats on a football field - it is doing my head in!

I agree but I thought he might get a red as the challenge could have been deemed “out of control”.
My biggest gripe about the decisions last night was no penalty for challenge on Olise, hardly a VAR check, perhaps we need someone in the refs ear, all game like Neves.
Even read some Wolves fans saying how the ref constantly stopping the game, played into their hands and did not help Palace at all.
I believe the VAR official was the ref from Saturday, he obviously does not like Palace

One plus with Johnstone, that I mentioned on the match thread yesterday, is his accuracy with long kicks upfield - nine times out of ten the ball will drop well for one of our players. Something that we haven't had from a keep in a very long while...

Surprised it wasn't a red TBF, absolutely no need to go in that high.

Could have just cleared it. Luck the game was already over so didnt impact anything
